a pet peeve I have in media is when the writer(s) try to write a strong female character and instead the just write a masculine woman. Of course woman can be masculine and strong (together and separately), but often I don’t feel like they write women who are masculine, they try to write a strong women and they can only conceive masculinity as strength. Also, I’m not sure if I’m phrasing this poorly, but it doesn’t always strike me that they write masculinity in the way a woman (or maybe a genderqueer person, though I haven’t had the pleasure of reading many original media featuring these characters prominently) might experience/express it.
one thing I appreciate about Xena as I’m rewatching it as an adult is that it feels like they’re women who have masculine traits/are masculine. Like, even beyond the fighting aspect, Xena often sits in stereotypically masculine way and takes charge/fulfills roles that are shown to be taken by men within the world they occupy. Additionally, I know that later, Gabrielle is joked to be “father” to Xena’s daughter, but I’m not that far yet, so I don’t know how far that’s taken.
idk, it just feels different to me. If anyone else has input/polite pushback I’d appreciate it/conversation! Or any other pieces of media that do this/explore women’s masculinity/gender expression/afab exploration of masculinity.

It's crazy to think we still haven't gotten another show like Xena since we've been promised with progression. It just feels like corporate marketing blurbs even shows like Agatha all along still doesn't compare to Xena warrior princess for one it was too goddamn short.

I enjoy making these and probably gonna make more as they are my favorite WLW pairing ever. I like the ancient mystical fantasy Greek setting of the show which kind of matches Greece's gay history with Sappho in many happy returns (Xena have Sappho write a sweet loving poem to Gabrielle for her birthday).Xenaa and Gabrielle also have a princess and prince vibe.
So cute, it has a breath of the wild vibe and I love it.

Xena and Gabrielle with LUMA AI
AI is getting scarier, I can literally make my own scenes now or at least alter them. These were made using the new Luma AI video generator. With the first clip, you can notice weird hand movements but the second clip is even creepier the movements more natural (lowkey I kinda enjoyed making these). I can only imagine what can be done in a few months from now with updates.
A quick summary, in the first clip xena and Gabrielle reunite in the spiritual world similar to how it actually happens in the show but it doesn't cut off. and you get to see more of them embracing and kissing, In the second clip, xena is filled with glee that she gets to marry Gabrielle and Gabrielle apologizes to xena for marrying Perdicus.
I'm glad that someone point that line out.
