You can love a character and still admit when they’re wrong. I love Aleksander Morozova but can acknowledge his flaws (he has none) & can hold him accountable for his wrongdoings (he’s never done anything wrong in his life) & call him out for his actions (which are always correct).
Grisha: “General, we have news of the Lantsov Prince”
The Darkling: “Good, good, what is it?”
Grisha: “He is throwing an engagement party”
The Darkling: “Now, of all times? Who is he marrying anyway?”
Grisha: “The Sun summoner, General”
The Darkling: “...”
Grisha: “Sir?”
The Darkling: “Leave”
Grisha: *excuses self*
The Darkling: “Fuck’s sake, Alina, I’ve already tried becoming consort to a Lantsov prince in the past it doesn’t solve anything.”
#i like to imagine he did try this angle already #and just no one bothered to read a history book#or perhaps someone scrapped it from the books because it was a shameful part of their history and now everyones forggoten
Once again, we've talked about how could Alina never realistically survive in army, due to her lack of respect and obedience.
Which could offer interesting AU, where her powers aren't discovered while crossing the Fold, but when she's being hanged. How would status of constantly insubordinate soldier influence her new position of Sun Summoner?!
She'd probably get the collar ASAP. Can't have someone unreliable by default trained and uncontrollable...

DARK!NIKOLAI LANTSOV AU: pyotr lantsov is trying to create a new kind of grisha and is testing a trial serum on his son. nikolai survives and seeks revenge. he teams up with the darkling to get to alina first and take over family's company.
“Something caught your eye, Sasha?”
Look, I understand Alina needed to learn about Morozova’s work in the name of The Plot™, but how likely is that someone as old and paranoid as the Darkling would just leave his journals lying around? Originals?
The show “fixed it” by making him give the journals to David to study. Which doesn’t change the fact they’re somehow easy to read.
If ~I~ were hundreds of y/o immortal with unique records of secret research, I’d destroy them after making a copy myself using:
cipher
foreign language
rare dialect
dead language
combiantion of everything above
But hey, it’s not like language doesn’t shift in some 500+ years… yet the greatest challenge was understanding Morozova’s train of thought… not the words alone…
does anybody else think about how all of the darkling’s survival techniques were taught to him by a woman experienced at surviving in a man’s world?
Почему этого нет в каноне? Неужели мы так много просим?
