I headcanon Remus as pretty calm and level-headed (he's the type of person where Sirius and James are more scared of him when he's calm angry) but i imagine him FLIPPING out over something like a new book release from his favorite author.

My Remus Lupin Headcanons:

loves classic literature

always takes a book with him wherever he goes

a lot more sensitive than he lets on

sticks little notes into his books

and they’re filled with wonderful, witty metaphors explaining his thinking and also fabulous insights, not just about the stories themselves, but also the nature of reading and writing

black tea fanatic

has a “secret” diary and writes every moment he has with sirius in it bc he wants to remember all of it. first date, first surprise, first trip together, first anniversary etc. he writes down all of it and doesn’t miss any parts

the quietest marauder, but he’s also the one with the quickest, wittiest remarks and comebacks

muggle books. so many of them. in drawers, underneath his bed. he loves the way muggles describe everything with so much beauty and depth

favorite holiday is christmas and he’s the best at giving gifts bc really listens and takes into consideration what would make the ones he loves smile

issues with anxiety and depression

soft spot for lily (platonic soulmates)

makes all his bookmarks by himself and each one is individual

sirius going to azkaban, the “betrayal” of james and lily was soul shattering for him. he spents months remembering everything sirius said to him and wondered if it all been an act. the hugs, the compassion, the kisses and the love

libraries and bookstores are his safe haven and bring him comfort

Remus gets little chocolate finger prints on his book pages, especially over the summer when he will sit outside and read and eat chocolate while James and Sirius play quidditch

i have always been a Romulus Lupin truther!! I'm like you where I don't really like ocs if they impact the main plot but i make this once exception. Idk if it's my major bias towards Remus but he just doesn't seem like an only child to me and I think Hope and Lyall would've had more kids if Greyback never happened

I've seen a few hcs once that Romulus did exist but Remus killed him during a full moon before he joined Hogwarts so he never talks about him. Personally I go completely off of cannon in this instant and hc him to be six years older then Remus (im just a sucker for siblings) and he dies with Hope during the first war

You’re so real for the Romulus being older than Remus thing! Remus gives off such younger sibling vibes. On the topic of that, our Moony is definitely the younger twin. He’s definitely not older. They would definitely have had siblings if Greyback didn’t get involved, I think.

That headcanon that Remus killed him is wild. That would never happen. Hope and Lyall were so careful about it that’s it’s just kind of ludicrous. Him dying with Hope in the war definitely sounds much more plausible than a lot of the other Remus-has-a-brother things I’ve seen around.

I’m a sucker for angst, lol. I feel like they would both have a long few years of deep resentment, probably spurred on by going to Hogwarts and being treated the same by staff, then coming back home to the unbalanced treatment. They get along really well pre-Hogwarts, but things change and they grow more and more distant.

They end up working it out after Regulus dies, because it makes Remus realize that the possibility of losing a family member is very, very real, and he doesn’t want to end up like Sirius and his brother. Then they meet up, talk it through, and Romulus and Hope die like a year later. That got way darker than intended but y’know.

On more kids if Greyback didn’t happen, though: I think that Hope and Lyall were not only too busy with Remus, but also afraid of Greyback coming back for more. Although, Remus’ condition would take up a lot of time. I do think they’d have younger cousins, though (I have Remus’ whole family tree planned out in my head).

Sirius Orion Black being the tallest, strongest, smartest, most powerful, and most attractive Marauder. Everyone in the castle wants a piece of him. He’s slept with most of the people in their year, along with the ones above and below theirs. He is, quite literally, the Casanova of Gryffindor Tower. He doesn’t study, but he still gets straight Os in every single class. He takes every single course for his NEWTs and gets Os in all of them. He’s one of those people that’s good at everything he gets his hands on. He’s friends with most people in Hogwarts, and has all sorts of connections with all sorts of people in every single social circle.

Enter Remus John Lupin, his geeky, awkward, kind of ugly, virgin, dork, studious, average height boyfriend. His idea of a wild evening is sitting in a corner, reading a book with some mildly sexual content with a cup of tea and a bar of chocolate. He clings to Sirius’ arm in social circumstances, twiddling his thumbs and silently watching everyone.

No one understands how, exactly, they got together. Everyone just knows that they’re absolutely adorable and madly in love.

Remus Lupin with the bent nose that’s a little too big, with the soft tired amber eyes, with the soft jawline, with the slightly crooked teeth, with the spattered freckles all over his face, with the knobby knees, with the lanky limbs, with the skinny and completely un-muscled body, with the fluffy curly and inexplicably tangled tawny hair, with the awkward and hunched posture.

Remus Lupin who is so strange and weird that no one really understands why/how he’s friends with James and Sirius, and everyone is even more confused when he and Sirius get together and this literal god of a man is with such a dweeb (then you see them together and they’re so sweet and in love that it makes sense). He has to have a hand on Sirius at all times because, if he doesn’t, he’s scared that Sirius will leave and he won’t know where he is. He always wants to be in Sirius’ lap because he’s freezing cold constantly and Sirius runs hot, so he clearly needs to be cuddled, because why else would they be the way they are. He always has to be held and reassured that he is loved because he’s an insecure little baby.

Remus Lupin’s first kiss was Sirius, he lost his virginity to Sirius, his first relationship was with Sirius, because he’s scared of everyone else finding out he’s a werewolf. The only time he was ever called a Casanova was when his friends poked fun at him for so much as talking to someone outside of their direct friend group (Sirius, James, Peter, Lily, Mary, Marlene, etc.). He was an antisocial weirdo that shied away from conversations, and panicked and ran if any confrontation occurred.

Remus Lupin was not an active problem solver, his fight or flight response was permanently set to flight. He lived on chocolate and tea and whatever snacks his friends brought him when he was studying. He wasn’t a natural straight-O student, he had to work his ass off to get Es in most classes and Es and Os in his best ones. He couldn’t work for the life of him because he had a bad back and hips and knees and once hurt himself trying to lift a stack of books the wrong way (with his back not his legs). He’s allergic to pollen and dust and peanuts and he’s lactose intolerant and his stomach is super sensitive. He doesn’t smoke because he’s got asthma and is too scared he’ll get lung cancer or something because he’s drop-dead terrified of literally everything.

Loser kinda-ugly nerd Remus John Lupin needs to make a comeback because he is so cute.

Remus “I apologize to the grass when I trip on it” Lupin. Remus “I broke my wrist trying to lift too many books at once” Lupin. Remus “I run when the wind blows the wrong way” Lupin. That’s the one that is apparently an alpha bad-boy.

Remus John Lupin is a dorky nerd in tweed and cardigans who is only strong enough to carry books around, and lets everyone walk all over him, and cries when people go on discriminatory tangents about werewolves/queer people, and makes Sirius help him study, and folds his underwear/socks, and drowns in jumpers that are too big because he’s so skinny that he has to choose between them being long enough or tight enough, and he’s always cold, and he has back joint/back pain, and has a snort-laugh, and a little overbite you can only see when he smiles, and his clothes have elbow/knee patches, and he never gets angry because he’s so scared of being a monster
