Hello,
My name is CJ and I’m a trans man. I grew up in a small town in North Carolina and I still live there today. My dad is a Chilean immigrant and he came to this country when he was only 8, spending most of his life in the beautiful land of Puerto Rico. My mom grew up in Florida (where I was born) and has mainly Irish ancestry. I have two older brothers, both in college. One attends Juilliard, the other UNCC. Most of my friends are a part of the LGBTQ+ community. I also have friends who are children of immigrants, just like me.
When I was born, it was induced by medication and I was born 8 weeks early due to a disease my mom had contracted while pregnant with me. We both survived thanks to the doctors and nurses who helped my mom deliver me safely. Due to my premature birth, I have struggled my whole life with chronic illness and disability.
I am telling you all of this because I am scared. Tomorrow is November 5th, Election Day, and depending on who wins I may be in serious danger.
Please, for the sake of me, my friends, my family, the trans community, the chronically ill, the disabled community, immigrants, immigrant families, women who need access to healthcare, and EVERY. SINGLE. American citizen…
I don’t want my rights to be taken from me.
Republicans have been degrading, and systematically trying to prevent democrats from voting for YEARS, and now they suddenly care about the rights of democrat voters? I call BS
This is a prime example of moving the goal post. They always have to be mad about something. They can't just let him step down peacefully (as they and everyone else have been pleading him to), it has to be twisted into some moral failing on him and the democrats.
THINGS TO REMEMBER:
(please for the love of everything correct me if I made a mistake, I'd like to help the cause as opposed to hurting it)
Left or Right - they're both wings on the same bird. Even if we all show up to turn the ballots individually it won't do much of anything because capitalism exist on both the left and right and all three(3) pray on our downfall to exploit us.
THAT BEING SAID it's still a VERY good idea to vote anyways. YOUR VOICE MATTERS. USE IT.
Proletarians - this is Us. We want the downfall of fascism and it pillars: CAPITALISM, racism, authoritarianism, national chauvinism, the reactionary and conservatory mobilization of the people against each other/the revolutionary movement of the proletariat
Capitalism works to feed off of our disagreements and our disarrangement. We have to pull our actions and base them on the historical interests of the working class.
Defending modern 'democracy' obscures the working class's conscienceless, this negatively affects the combativity of our goal.

I’m working through Democracy Awakening by Heather Cox Richardson and I am crying. The absolute injustice that has occurred in America in the last several decades. I knew it was bad, but I didn’t realize the cheating in government had been going on for as long as it has. The lack of fairness in government is alarming. I was definitely the kid who cried when things weren’t fair (I understand equity vs equality, and sorta did when I was a kid). I am appalled and angry that some politicians have spend years changing the rules on everyone and cheating.
But anyway, it’s such an amazing book and I wish it could be school curriculum but it won’t ever be until Republicans aren’t able to mess with school curriculum. It airs way too many of their dirty (not so) secrets.
Obama WILLhave sex with me
My mother just said "fucking Trump is God" so that's how insane his supporters are
A message to everyone who is against Trump in the U.S,; don't give up.
I understand that statement may seem cliche and useless to many people. But everyone needs to understand the significance it holds.
I am heartbroken about the election results in the United States. But I will not stress how important it is to stay strong, and not give up on our democracy. I won't tell you it's not terrifying.
But we can't stop fighting for the rights of ourselves and others. No matter how hopeless it may seem at the moment, we must work together to maintain democracy in America.
If you feel like it's not worth it to keep trying, think of the genocide against the Palestinians, which will only reach new extremes under Trump's presidency (he has said he wants Netanyahu to be even more aggressive and tough on Palestine than he already is being—sit with that for a moment.) the transgender people who won't receive the affirming care they deserve, the people of color who now have nearly no protections against racism and police brutality, the children who won't have access to the education they need, who won't be protected against rapists and gun violence, the people who will not be able to get abortions no matter how dire their situations are, the legal and illegal immigrants who will be deported, the Ukrainians who will now longer have protection from America against the Russian invasion in their country. And there is so much more, so much more that we won't even see coming.
However, we can still do things to make a difference. Go to protests, educate yourself and others, donate to Palestinians/charities that help Palestinians and other people in need, volunteer at organizations that help women travel to different states to have legal safe abortions, flood your congressmen, representatives, mayors, governors, anyone in our government, with letters and complaints.
Use your voice! Remember, you have free speech no matter how much you are made to feel like you don't.
Now is not the time to worry about hurting anyone's feelings or being annoying. Be a bother. Force everyone who is using their power to ignore you and your rights to notice you.
Don't be scared to aggressive as you fight against the fascism that threatens our country. We cannot and will not allow this nation to slip further into hate, homophobia, transphobia, racism, sexism, white supremacy, xenophobia, misogyny, and anti immigrant ideology any more than it already has.
We cannot afford to be selfish or weak. Even if your state has voted to add protections for women and trans people in their state constitutions, doesn't mean you're safe. Do you think Trump won't do everything he can do outlaw these rights everywhere eventually? Fight and keep fighting. For everyone.
This may seem dramatic to some. I've heard the argument "Trump won't follow through. He's not being serious. He won't actually try to become a dictator", several times. Wake up! He has presented these intentions time and time again. Take his words at face value. He will strip people of their rights, especially if we actively chose to ignore his clearly communicated intentions. Do not think he won't do everything in his power to pass Project 2025 and other hateful, controlling, unconstitutional policies.
Believe it. But also believe in hope. It's easy to feel alone during this time. Remember, however, that there are millions of people behind you, and we can keep it that way if we remind ourselves and each other that we are fighting together and we will not give in.
No matter what, do not give up on our country and every single citizen that still needs our protection and support.
I need to get this off my chest..... I’m sorry if I offend anyone in general or a group in general, but I feel I need to say this without trying to instigate anything between anyone. I see too much fighting and too much hate coming from a bunch of sides of the world who say that they aren’t hating and trying to get their point across. Let me tell you something. You’re still spreading hate when you’re calling someone a hypocrite, calling someone stupid, calling someone an idiot, a baby, a bad person, etc. How is this spreading hate? The person who calls another person this dehumanizes them and pins the blame on them. Pointing fingers is considered toxic according articles that I have looked up online(and most that I have read are written by therapists who are licensed in their state). People are saying things before they even try to understand what the other person is going through or understand the other persons point. I also see when someone does take the time to apologize and go out of their way to try and make things right, they are still shamed because of what happened in the past. That is taking that persons ability away to try and be better. When someone makes an effort to say sorry they should able to improve after that without anyone shaming them for what they did in the past! Also, a person should not be getting death threats because life is a gift, even to the beholder. Telling them to go kill themselves or telling them that you are the person that is going to find them and kill them is saying that they are trash and that they should have never been born. I’m tired of seeing all this on tumblr and other sites. We should be able to accept one another and try to make an effort to get along. If we really want to be a nation united , or even a world united. we need to start acting like it and start showing each other respect.
To any of you who have yet to vote today, I hope that before you leave your polling place you will take a moment to thank the volunteers who help to make the process possible.
If we argue that by not participating in elections, we're making a statement that we reject the political system and we don't even want to take part in the system, we're being stupid
We're already a part of the political system, politics pervades the society and us
Elections give us a chance to influence the system
By not voting, you're making yourself more powerless
democracy during todays crisis has turned a survivalhelper and facilitator
also the spirit of life has tripled bringing joy to ppl
Trump and Vance are nothing but pathetic bullies who have no business running a country. History will not be kind to them, and it shouldn’t be.

Today, April 25th, is the 48th anniversary of the 1974 Portuguese Revolution. A group of junior and middle ranking officers in the Portuguese military overthrew a fascist dictatorship which had been in power over 40 years.
The Estado Novo régime came to power in the same era as Mussolini, Hitler, and Franco. However it had been less heavy handed than those other dictatorships; its first and longest lasting leader, António Salazar, was a fervent Catholic who was turned off by the “paganism” of his fellow pre-war dictators and ruled accordingly. Still there were secret police, limits on free speech and the press, and no genuinely fair elections.
By the mid 1970s, Portugal was the last European country to have a colonial empire. A non-stop series of wars in the colonies had taken a large toll on the country. Younger and more clear-thinking officers decided that a change in the country was long overdue.
BBC History Extra describes what happened.
In March 1974, General António de Spínola was dismissed from his position as deputy minister of the armed forces.
He had written a book in which he suggested that the Portuguese colonial wars should come to an end. He was critical of the current Portuguese regime, something that was regarded as heretical by Portugal’s right-wing establishment.
The Armed Forces Movement (MFA) was soon formed by dissident and low- ranking officers who supported Spínola. Captains within the armed forces were also unhappy with a law which would grant privileges to conscripted officers, to the resentment of professionally trained officers. The armed forces’ support for the government was rapidly deteriorating.
Just before midnight on 24 April, Portugal’s entry for the Eurovision Song Contest – ‘E Depois do Adeus’ (And After The Farewell) – was played by the radio station Emissores Associados de Lisboa, as had been arranged by the rebels. This was the first of two secret signals that the army was waiting for.
Tanks entered the centre of Lisbon in the early hours of 25 April and soon the airport, television and radio centres were taken over, as well as the Salazar Bridge over the river Tagus. Prime Minister Marcello Caetano, along with other ministers, had taken refuge in the Carmo barracks, which housed the National Republican Guard, and these were stormed by troops, armed with machine guns. With little resistance, Caetano surrendered to Spínola.

Radio appeals by the revolutionaries asked people to stay inside, but many flooded the streets and joined in, supporting the troops. By the time the sun had risen on 26 April, the MFA was in charge and promised to hold democratic elections for a national assembly as soon as they could.
In 2014 for the 40th anniversary, NBC News did a piece on it.
They took less than 24 hours to bring down Europe’s longest-lived dictatorship and signal the end of the last colonial empire in Africa.
“It was a coup like no other,” recalled Swiss journalist Werner Herzog, who reported on the revolution.
“The atmosphere was more like a party,” he joked at a conference on Wednesday. “None of us had ever heard of an army intervening to bring democracy, surely it’s normally the other way round.”
It certainly did turn out to be cool. By June of 1976 Portugal had drafted a constitution, elected a parliament, and installed a president – all peacefully and democratically. In just 26 months, Portugal had gone from a fascist dictatorship to a fully functioning Western liberal democracy. And it’s still doing fine today.
Portugal is one of the most stable and resilient truly democratic countries on the planet. It’s amazing what a success story it has been. It is proof that a difficult history doesn’t have to be a drag on a country’s present and future.
As for Russia, we can only hope that there are middle ranking officers currently plotting to remove their own fascist régime. They do have a much more difficult job than their Portuguese counterparts in 1974. The Estado Novo régime was fascism lite while Putin is a lot more like the hardcore Nazis of the late 1930s in Germany.
Anyway, the BBC excerpt above alluded to “the first of two secret signals” which were played on Lisbon radio stations to give the go-ahead for the revolution. The second was more important and is now a revered patriotic song in Portugal. Grândola, Vila Morena had been banned on radio by the government. So when it was played just after midnight on Rádio Renascença on April 25th, everyone involved knew there was no turning back.
