If someone were to make a season 2 fanfic…what would you want to be in it? (Theories, storylines, etc.) Asking for a friend 🤨
Okay so I am actually kind of pissed abt this one. Usually cancellations I’m chill with but like this show was one of my favorites. Thanks a lot Netflix
I wanna be sillies.
Hello dead boy detectives fandom! Let's do something fun again.
Sorry for the last few, I didn't have enough space for everyone so I had to group a few characters.
I might be controversial, I know a lot of people don't like it, but in my opinion Crystal dresses the best 💜💜🖤. Post amnesia Crystal too. Her outfits are loud and weird but that's what I like about them.
Bravo if anyone picked any of the last 3 options! Interesting choices👏👏👏.
On one hand, I love Crystal my girl and she deserves to appear in my case fic.
On the other hand, if I'd let her appear she would've defeated the villains in 2 seconds and take away all of my excuse for angst and Charles gay panicking over Edwin fencing, and then I'd have no plot.
I'm sorry my girl, you're simply too much the goat for this I'm afraid. I can't let you appear.
We can't always win.
My personal headcanon for how Crystal was able to go through airplanes security but didn't know her full name even though she needs her ID and such for this stuff-
Guys. Come on. She 100% had multiple fake IDs, are you kidding me?
In the show we see her going to a bar in the first episode, where David catches her again when she's hiding at the bathroom, and we know she's not a legal adult.
Crystal is 100% the kind of girl that had a bunch of fake IDs. Be for real.
She probably didn't have her real one on her. David must've left it behind and used just the fake ones to get into places.
She probably hypnotized people in the airport with her powers to not look deep into them and let her go pass security. (Not my original headcanon but I've seen it somewhere and I agree with it).
She probably had some cash on her too at the start, for the flights and one week's rent (she tells Jenny she has rent on her when she comes in, and "you're the only room in town I can maybe afford". So she might've had some cash in the beginning (she got some clothes too, didn't she?) but it has probably ran out during the show).
The real question is why the hell did they need 3 plane flights *and* a ferry?? Maybe it was for a comical punch. But that's still a bit weird. And such a waste.
Maybe the fact she didn't have all of her identification papers is what made them have to take a more complicated route.
This hold up for sure made Edwin get pissed too. He probably bitched about it to Charles the whole way.
Doing this
I'm so good at decisions you guys
Simon and Esther makes me feel.... Mixed feelings.
But I love most characters in the show, it's really hard to hate when so many of them are written so beautifully.
(this cop I'll hate any day though, idc. Acab. She's bad at her job).
Anyway
I hope you all will have a great year!
Keep screaming and keep shouting about our beloved show🗣️
No matter what will happen, Netflix needs to know how pissed we are.
1, 5, 7, 15 for the dbda ask game :)
Thank you so much for submitting these questions!
1. My favourite character
It's Charles. Yeah it's very obvious from my profile picture, I'm a Charles fan all the way.
The moment I met him in the show/ trailer I got possessed. I knew he was going to be my favourite character and I was right. Also I'm in love(/nsrs. Well, okay, maybe a bit, but mostly not!) with Jayden Revri. God the eyes of this boy. And his face. And his everything.
Yeah Charles is very much my favourite.
After him probably Edwin Crystal and Jenny, with no particular order. I can't decide.
I'm extremely obsessed with Edwin as well, although he is vastly different from my usual type of characters, because a fencer (in my heart, George also confirmed! And I relate to him on that) + he's not afraid to be bitchy and he's so iconic and so many others stuff that surprised me about him. I love him.
Also Crystal. My love. My girl. Complex female characters my beloved.
And Jenny is an icon. What else can I say?
5. Character I relate to the most.
Well, it's Charles. Sorry the answer is clear cut lol.
His situation with his parents reminds me of my own a lot (unfortunately). I relate to him on so many deep and emotional levels. Some of the episodes hit me strong. I thought 3 was going to be the peak where we get to see his trauma although it's not a lot, and then episode 4 hit me like a train. Episode 5 (especially the end) has my heart.
I relate to Charles on so many levels.
I also relate to Crystal a lot, her journey is relatable. I feel her.
She's just as messy and complicated as anyone else in there, I get her.
7. Favourite headcanon from the fandom
Demiromantic Charles! I talked about it before and also tagged the post I saw it in that explains it really well. I love this. I wish I saw more fanfics exploring this.
Also I wish I saw more gender queer Charles Rowland.
But mostly demi Charles. I can't think of any other hc I saw I really like yet.
15. My favourite line
There are many, many, hilarious lines I dearly love. But I am going to go with an angsty pick, I think the line that broke me the most was a line Charles said in episode 1 I didn't see anyone talking about I think holds a major part of his character- "you are the smart one, and I'm the one that does shit like this." It deeply hurt me.
Let's talk about it for a moment, shall we?
Because Charles is smart. Many times he finds the solutions to their cases, Edwin often praises him for his brilliant mind and George himself said in a cameo only people he thinks truly deserves it- a compliment from Edwin is the highest compliment ever.
Charles is smart.
But he sees himself as this reckless, foolish, charicaristic. This sentence comes from so much self hatred. When things get complicated we see him turn again into the aggressive image he has of himself. He sees himself as waste. He holds Edwin at the highest place ever in his eyes "you are the smart one, you are better than this, you are better than me, don't step to my level I'm trash you are so much more I will do it for you" and it just hurts me how much he throws himself away in the process.
Seeing this line again in a rewatch and realise it definitely was a stab to the chest, now that it's known how much he hates himself.
I wish we talked about episode 1 more, it's a great episode that sets out so many important stuff for the rest of the show. We just skip over it because so much happened so quickly but there are so much stuff we need to unpack there.
Don't get me wrong, I love painland because they're the land of pain payneland dearly & I'm currently writing *multiple* fics about them.
But if I hear one more person saying shit about Crystal and saying she was gross for what she had with Charles I'll fucking scream.
Edwin probably had a deep technological shock when he came back.
I imagine myself Charles the 80s boy is teasing him for not getting along with technology well (teasing affectionately, of course).
Crystal the gen z is laughing at both of them.
My deepest apologies for my followers that followed me for other stuff like bat family or hell-verse content and all I talk about is dbd now.
(This show is so good just give it a chance).
Updated version i did for secret project
Crystal is such an important character to me. She shows that you can change. Before she even meet the boys she was very rude and cruel person. So much so that she didn't care she was dating a demon and let herself be possessed. The after math of that changed who she is so much. She may not like the boys at first but she grows to. She is selfless at the start but she is told but Jenny that people always think about themselves and she learns from that. It shows how much she cares when she worried about Niko without knowing anything about her. The growth in her powers is also amazing.

Hello, tumblr user. Before you is a tumblr post asking you to name a female fictional character. You have unlimited time to tag a female character, NOT a male one.
Begin.
This is exactly what happened, and nothing was more disappointing than finding out My lesbians were indeed not lesbianing.
the funniest part of the dbd fandom is that when niko first appeared on screen, none of us actually thought anything was wrong with her. we were just like “oh that’s just the Power of Lesbianism™” and moved on
out of all of the silly little “new fan canon events” that happen (like thinking that niko’s sprites was just crystal experiencing sapphic love, or being absolutely gutted post swingset scene), one that will never ever get old to me is getting to see people’s reactions to crystal’s full name
A couple weeks ago, the Dead Boy Detective Agency fought a zombie. It wasn’t a zombie apocalypse situation, just one teenage necromancer with a book he didn’t understand and grief he didn’t know how to process. It was about to start a zombie apocalypse situation - the zombie heading for a crowd - when Edwin got the brilliant idea to lure it away by way of turning himself corporeal with a bit of iron so the zombie would follow him.
The necromancer was doing his best to protect the zombie of his little sister, and Edwin was trying to kite it away from the crowd, and Charles was trying to get close enough to the zombie to bash its head in, and Crystal was trying to avoid aggroing the zombie while disabling the necromancer, and everyone was trying to convince the necromancer that this was not his little sister, and Charles was trying to get Edwin to stop touching the fucking iron, and somewhere in the confusion Edwin got bit.
Which was fine, he assured them. Crystal managed to get the necromancer unconscious, and Charles managed to implode the zombie’s brains with his bat, and Edwin dropped the iron nail and lost corporeality again, and the bite healed almost immediately.
“I am a ghost, Charles, I’m not going to become a member of the shambling undead. The two are fundamentally incompatible. A zombie is a wandering body with no soul, while a ghost is a wandering soul with no body. One cannot become the other. There’s really no need for such concern - “
(Charles does not care if there’s need for concern, he’s gonna damn we’ll be concerned anyway, because what was that, Edwin, intentionally grabbing iron in order to attract a zombie is fundamentally demented behavior. But even Charles had to concede, over the next few days, that Edwin seemed to be showing no ill effects.)
Several days later, Crystal and Edwin got in one of their usual fights. It blew up rather further than they generally do, these days, Edwin’s comments more vicious than witty, less catty and more hurtful, Crystal responding in kind. Crystal told Charles she thought it was probably because Edwin was still stressed from Charles scolding him about the zombie/iron business; Edwin doesn’t take Charles scolding him as lightly as he tries to pretend.
Charles tried to bring it up, the next day, and he must have pushed too hard, because Edwin darn near bit his head off. Nothing like how he’d spoken to Crystal, admittedly, but still far harsher than he’d normally be towards Charles, snapping out his answers, venom on his tongue. Charles determined that discretion was the better part of valor and retreated, and when he came back, apologetic, a couple hours later, Edwin was back to normal.
Or was speaking normally, anyway. When he answered Charles, he seemed to sort of glitch out a little, not disappearing but more going staticy. Charles was pretty sure he’d imagined it, and he didn’t want to get snapped at again so soon, so he didn’t say anything.
But it happened again, the next day.
The third time, Charles went ahead and pointed it out, because it was definitely not his mind playing tricks at that point. Edwin didn’t snap at him, quite, but he did get rather aggressively dismissive.
The fourth time, it happened while they were outside, and Crystal gasped.
Charles and Edwin spun to look at her, and were rather disconcerted to find her staring not at Edwin, but at the sidewalk. “What are you seeing, Crystal?”
“You - you had a shadow. For a second.”
Edwin and Charles blinked at her for several moments, before Edwin pulled himself together. “Don’t be ridiculous, Crystal, ghosts cannot have shadows. Perhaps it was a vision?”
Even Crystal had gotten a bit wary of setting Edwin off, by that point, so she didn’t argue (much).
Yesterday, Crystal started complaining about the office smelling funny. Charles and Edwin couldn’t smell anything, but, well, they couldn’t ever smell anything, so that wasn’t a surprise. They concluded there must be a mold issue - the office building until recently had spent years inhabited only by the dead, after all, and had received little maintenance. They arranged for someone to come in and look for the mold, but it’d be about a week before he had an appointment time open when Crystal could be available to meet him.
Today, Edwin is sitting in his chair in the office, looking a bit distressed, face tilted down, a hand on his stomach.
“You all right, mate?”
“I am experiencing… the strangest sensation,” Edwin answers, not looking at Charles. “A sort of discomfort, behind my navel. Like an emptiness. Or a gnawing.”
Charles realizes abruptly that there’s a shadow, falling steady over the desk in front of Edwin. Edwin lifts his head to look at Charles, and his eyes are cloudy blue.
Started writing something and it depressed me so I stopped, but here’s the base concept:
Three days after her fortieth birthday, Charles comes to Crystal’s door as her wife is leaving. They exchange pleasantries as she heads out, then Crystal waves Charles in.
Charles is staring out the window as he asks the question.
“What’s it like, to grow up?”
Crystal grins at him. “I’m pretty sure I haven’t, yet.” She looks out the window with him, at her wife pulling out of the driveway, and the croquet wickets stabbed into the lawn, and the sapling just showing its first flowers. “But…” She smells the sourdough that just came out of the oven. “But I think that if I ever do, it’ll be pretty nice.”
-
The day after Crystal’s eightieth birthday, Charles brings her an extra present “that was too big and flashy to give you at the party, wouldn’t want everyone else to feel inadequate.”
Crystal waits for him to ask the question.
It takes him the better part of an hour to get around to it.
“What’s it like, getting old?”
Crystal laughs. “I don’t think I have, yet.” She leans back on the sofa, into a spot that’s shaped just for her, and looks next to her at the spot that’s worn into the shape of her wife. She reaches up to twist her hair - rainbow-dyed. The color shows up beautifully on white hair. “But…” She looks out of the window, at the magnolia tree outside, that they’d planted all those years ago, now with a swing that Charles and Edwin pretend not to fight over because Edwin is of course far too dignified for such things. “But I think it’ll be nice when I do.”
-
Crystal is in bed, and the window is open. The scent of the magnolia wafts in on the breeze. Charles follows it, as he has every day for the last two weeks. Edwin isn’t with him, this time. (Charles explains that Edwin had to deal with an urgent case, life or death, but he’ll be along soon.)
Crystal looks down at her hand, veined and knobby, held gently in Charles’s, perpetually smooth. Then back up into Charles’s eyes.
“What’s it like, dying?”
Charles lets out a quiet breath. He thinks, for a minute. “It depends,” he says. “Sometimes, it’s awful. But…” He looks away, and his eyes go very distant, like he’s seeing not only into the past but onto another plane. (Crystal would know.) “But if you’re with someone who loves you, and you’re at peace…” A tear slips down his cheek, and vanishes before it touches their joined hands. “It can be beautiful. It can be the best moment of your life.”
Crystal nods. “Will you be with me? Both of you?”
Charles’s eyes focus again, and he looks back down at her, and he smiles. “Of course we will.”
