this man is BOLD to go on the ice with a scarf around his head and no helmet. does papyrus have crazy skill or crazy luck?
Paps appreciates the concern though. He knows humans are squishier and more fragile than skeletons, so he says “DONT TRY THIS AT HOME”
Asks/requests/whatever are open
Request/Idea by Sku from twitter
They requested a itty bitty Dream preening his lil Wings <33 and i just had to add Nightmare in there as well listening to Dream chip chirping a Story to him.
Fell being a goof :3
Wanted to write a little yandere something as a treat, but couldn't decide which papyrus I wanted it to feature.
So naturally i made my own au papyrus instead.
Look at him, he's adorable.
For this au, the world works on the vaguest of dating game structure. (Basically i was heavily inspired by fics I've read and have only played one dating sim game-) It cycles through main characters, so the mc is no longer the game's focus.
She is, however, papyrus' focus. Or Zephyr's, as I have dubbed him.
She's rather blasé about his stalking her, not her first radio, and in turn makes a game of it. On the days when hes usually not stalking her, she hunts him down.
Zephyr is a weird sort of swap variant. The au they're in, he was in the middle of being swapped when the [entity] stopped changing his code. The [entity] is the reason the au was turned into a weird dating reality. To entertain itself [entity] keeps plucking characters from other abandoned, forgotten, or unknown aus and tossing them into this one. Messes with their brains a little to make them more accepting of the fact that they're in a videogame (forces them to believe that thats all it is).
Sans stressed out big time when his baby brother started to adopt his lazier habits. Aa a result, sans tried to step up as a better role model. Maybe it would knock Zephyr out of his funk? It didn't, but it greatly entertained [entity].
Sans greatly hoped that maybe even reaching the surface would help his bro (even at the cost of Frisk's life). It didn't. Zephyr continued to wear baggy ripped jeans and avoided Undyne like he always did. With no way to rewind, sans set his grin and pretended it wasnt strange to not be admonished for puns or misplaced socks or bad sleeping habits. Both of them slept in for hours, once. Now sans dragged himself out of bed and took on the role papyrus used to wear with pride.
Things about Zephyr
-wears fake wolf ears sometimes (i like to think whatever he sticks to his head only stay because of that blue sticky tak)
-loves butterflies
-wears anything butterfly. Bows, jewelry, etc
-obsesses over pretty things
-the tip of his tail is considered as a misfigurement, but he chooses to think its cute.
-he forgets to wear his glasses
-he likes to theme his daily outfits by one color.
-can teleport. Makes stalking easier
-very respectful stalker. He only takes pictures when the main character is outside of her home. He didnt want to invade her privacy after all.
-extremely flattered when he learns that she's stalking him. The game is on.
-he's uberly protective of his brother. He doesnt want to worry his brother more (zephyr noticed how much his brother stressed and wanted him to revert to normal. If his brother learned about zephyr's obsessive tendencies, would sans not love him anymore? Would he be so far from the brother sans once knew?) So he's never told him about his obsessed crushes or stalking habits.
-the main character wasnt his first crush. Any previous crushes ended miserably. Lack of interest on his end because he learned they were boring after all, death because they didn't respect his brother-, broken heart because they didn't like him back, etc. He may have a warped sense of attraction, but he respects when the object of his interest doesn't return his feelings!
Things about sans
-zero interest in romance. His brother and the state of au is too stressful to think about romance or anything of the sort
-he vaguely knows of the [entity]. Weird dreams where [entity] speaks to him about various things. Popcorn, the crumbling state of the au, the feeling of laughing gas, innocuous things like that. Sans ignores these dreams
-sans would look about the same, but more serious and perhaps dressed better? He might fluctuate between different wardrobes (normal to outlandish to fancy to normal to clown costume) to startle papyrus back into normal. Like scaring a person to stop their hiccups.
-sans knows his brother acts a little... strange, and he knows his brother is lying about what he does so often during the day, but he doesnt want to pry. He wants to pretend papyrus is out jogging like he used to or hanging out undyne or... he doesnt know. But when he stares at the empty house, its easier to pretend. Pretend that somewhere along the line he didnt screw up as an older brother.
-sans has no idea why papyrus wanta to be called zephyr. Should he adopt a nickname too or?? Just?? Not point anything out?? He responds to both and doesnt seem bothered unless sans calls him pickle sandwhich...
About Undyne
-she saw something she shouldn't have. She wont talk about it. Because... that was her best friend and shes scared of him now. Hes not who he used to be and he likes it and she saw him dusting an old friend and then he smiled at her as if nothing was wrong- so its easier to say nothing's wrong, and avoid him like he does her. Pretend that she cant see that hes hurt by her avoidance (but how dare he be all hurt feelings when hes the scary one? He started this!) Pretend she cant even remember, really, and change the subject.
(Now i just have to write the thing--)
*i dont really grasp who all in the multiverse does code stuff or their understanding of if theyre real or if theyre in videogame or just what, but this au hasnt had any interaction with the multiverse just yet. The [entity] will be an oc of mine methinks.
*i wonder who will stop [entity]? Will [entity] ever gain a name? How might I design them? Who knows lol
*i did not realize just how much angst i was putting into this. Like. Its not a lot. But its more than nothing. Can u believe that there wasn't going to be any at all? Sorry sans but i demand hurt/comfort. Undyne you just... get hurt. Theres no resolving, sorry hon, but you have your wifey, so i think youre good.
I find the concept of the virus making the boys yandere instead of murderous to be hilarious. Not because I don't eat that shit up like it's water in the apocalypse, but because of Afton.
That man has to be sitting in there, wondering how the fuck this happened, and how the hell he could turn it around to benefit him, especially if the boys are more inclined to listen to you over him as your absolute simps.
Jax x Reader
Summary: You're in misery once again. Luckily, you have a friend who's willing to help.
CW: Y/N is in intense pain from menstrual cramps. If it makes you uncomfortable, please do not read.

AN: This prompt was given to me by a friend. Enjoy! :)
~~~~~~~~~~
You stumbled to your room in a hurry. Nothing was gonna stop you. Even if it meant you had to run people over.
You panted heavily as you reached your door. It felt like an eternity to turn the handle, but it finally opened and toppled you into the room. You quickly caught yourself and slammed the door closed. In a few frantic steps, you sat heavily on the bed.
You felt stabbing in your gut and between your legs. You gasped and stiffened as a hand flew to your belly. €?!£. Every time. You whimpered as it subsided and slowly rolled onto your side, finding a comfortable position.
You took some deep breaths and closed your eyes. Finally. A bit of relief. Laying down was the best thing ever right now. Your thoughts drifted as you tried to calm yourself down.
Cramps hit you hard every month. It was something you were used to from back home. But you hoped being stuck here would stop it. Unfortunately, it did not. Luckily there was no bleeding, but the pain was just as intense.
You yawned and carefully rolled onto your other side, snuggling a pillow close. A nap will help. Hopefully. Just as you started to doze off, someone knocked at the door. You groaned and spoke groggily.
"Who is it?"
You were met with a wide yellow grin. You couldn't help but sigh. You liked Jax. He was nice. But he didn't exactly seem like the type to help with this situation.
"What's up, Jax?" you mumbled.
The tall, lanky figure slinked over with his hands in his pockets.
"I was just wondering if you'd want to help prank Gangle," he purred. "She's had that comedy mask on a little too long for my liking."
You shook your head a bit without moving. Jax waited a moment for you to say something, but when you didn't, his smile turned to confusion.
"Jeez...You could say something. Or at least roll over to look at me," he complained.
You shook your head again. "Um...I can't move..." you mumbled.
The rabbit tilted his head in further confusion before a look of understanding came over his face.
"Ohhh..." he started. "That time of the month again?"
You nodded and stiffened as you felt his hand on your arm.
"Hey. I'm just trying to help," he scolded.
You scoffed. "You? Why would you try to help? I get we're friends and all, but it seems like a waste of your time." You were surprised by how his hand settles on your belly.
"I'm a jerk, not a monster." The rabbit hopped onto the bed behind you and nuzzled your shoulder with his chin. "What do you need? Heating pad? Tea?"
You blinked a few times before leaning into him. "Um...Those sound good, yeah..." you whispered.
Jax patted your arm and then hopped off the bed. "Brb."
You continued snuggling your pillow in silence. This was all...very strange to say the least. But hey, you weren't complaining. Tea did sound amazing right now.
You took a deep breath as the door opened again and the smell of hot chamomile tea filled the room.
"Alright..." your friend started. "I got a hot pad, the tea, honey, milk, sugar, and some movies. What're you up for watching?"
You smiled and took the heating pad to settle on your belly. "Star Wars?"
Jax scoffed and stirred milk and sugar in the tea. "What a geek. But sure. I guess we can watch that." His voice dripped with mock sarcasm. You couldn't help but giggle a bit as you accepted the cup.
"Yeah, yeah. Says the one who secretly watches rom-coms," you teased.
The rabbit's fur fluffed up in indignation. "Hey, they're entertaining! It's not my fault they get a bad rep!"
You patted his head. "Relaaaax. I'm just joking. Now put the movie in. Chop chop." You clapped your hands.
Jax smiled and got up. "Aye-aye, captain." He set the movie in the dvd player before flopping behind you again. "If you need anything else, let me know."
You ran your fingers through his fur for some extra comfort, feeling yourself relax. "I will. Thank you."
As you focused on the movie, the pain gradually melted away. You looked down at Jax. He was asleep against you. You smiled and rested your chin on his forehead. Maybe the stupid rabbit was reliable for something after all.
Can you do headcanons for a young child reader who constantly follows jax around, loves physical affection, and thinks jax is their 'dad'?
(Obviously this request is plantonic, not romantic!)
I think I might've went a little overboard with this one! Way longer than most of my posts but I guess that isn't really a bad thing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
★ His first and only question was how the hell did a four year old get in this situation. The headset should have been way out of reach for you. Questions that will never be answered, I guess.
★ After making you cry the first time he spoke to you he tried to steer clear of you. That worked out horribly because you seemed to want to always be near him. Much to everyone's confusion.
★ "oh my! Looks like the little one has taken an interest in you!" Was Cain's response to seeing you huddled up near Jax. At some point he gets a child harness to keep you in his line of sight. It's just easier this way.
★ By the way he didn't mean to make you cry, he just didn't know how young you were and said something he would've said to an adult. Kids cry easily, what are you gonna do?
★ Jax stole a few pillows from Kinger for you to sleep with. Yes, you don't technically need to sleep but he's not going to tell you that. Nap time is one of the only times he can get a moment to himself.
★ He gets beyond pissed when you get woken up during nap time. To the point where he's barely keeping it together and wants to beat whoever woke you up with a chair leg.
★ If you want to be picked up, then he's picking you up. It doesn't matter if he's talking to somebody or doing something. You'll get picked up while he's doing something and without missing a beat he'll continue like nothing happened.
★ Instead of giving you the usual Jax treatment, he just tells you the most outlandish lies while trying to convince you that they are true. Sometimes he tells you something that sounds so true you don't question his bullshit.
There's a list of things he's told you!
If you push down on Ragatha's nose it will make a honking noise.
There's a secret room hidden in a closet filled with veggies for people who are allergic to meat.
Birds aren't real.
When he was your age, he was a year older. (It took you a moment to figure that one out)
Caine is the tooth fairy.
★ Jax isn't known for his empathy, but he does feel conflicted when you talk about small details from your life before meeting him. What color your house was, the lullabies your mother sang and the books you used to be read. It all makes him think.
★ You're family might be looking for you, not knowing where you are and that you're trapped. Do you even realize this? They probably think you're dead, that something terrible happened to you. Those thoughts make his stomach sink.
★ If he cares about you this much he can only imagine the grief your family feels. You will forever be a blissfully ignorant child not knowing the truth of what's really going on.
Have I told you about my bowling au?
...everyone bowls intensely. Thats it. Thats the au.
Even sans. Frightening.
He did it initially because,,, funny? That out of all the things papyrus wanted him to be better at, he just bowls the crap out of everybody and then. Just stops. One day. Hits the highest score in the underground and never does it again.
I haven't drawn everyone yet. And i want to redraw everyone digitally to give them those achingly bright colors I'm envisioning. You know papyrus is wearing nauseating patterns and colors to the bowling alley.
Encounters? Bowling 1v1. Frisk best have some good bowling abilities or they aint makin' it through the underground.
Toriel teaches Frisk how to bowl and all the various important things about it. (I dunno i guess the kid never bowled on the surface.) Like how to be polite when there are lanes side by side and whatnot.
Im sure I can add more lore to this later on but I just wanted to get it out of my head and out there before i never do.
Hi! I'm happy to chat about hyper-fixations, special interests, OCs, video games, and books! Or whatever else is on your mind :) I may not get back to you immediately because of time or just plain social awkwardness...
If you ever have a writing or drawing prompt for me, hit me up! I'd love to look at it.
Hnnnnng…. Fluff…. Tooth rotting…
The silly <3
Also sorry that this is super messy, I can never do lineart that I like.. so it just stays as a sketch
Arc 2 shenanigans. Idk!! Im just kinda tossing around ideas
This is just my reading of this scene but I genuinely don't think Ragatha meant this in reference to Jax's abstracted friend.
I think this implies that Jax used to get on with the rest of the cast.
He probably was a pain in the ass and annoyed everyone, but on a more tolerable level, maybe as comedic relief, and not as openly and directly agonistic and mean. I think having his froggy friend helped him balance out.
After losing that friend he got nihilistic about their situation and just decided to be rude and hurtful because nothing mattered to him anymore.
And I think that Pomni is what will level him out again and keep him real. We saw it in this episode a lot. With Pomni he is more open and breaks his persona to share his actual thoughts and even feelings.
What if someone(ink) threw a can of glitter on nightmares goopy body and it gets all mixed around and never comes off so he always looks a bit too sparkly and it’s really messing with his “menacing vibes”
He's now ✨️Sparkly✨️ ^^
can I kiss ur ink plz (platonically) (on the cheek ofc don't wanna break his boundaries)
He loves the attention
(Sun x oc)
There was just something more fun about looking at houses with your best friend than letting them do it by themself. Which was why Derin was walking through an empty building, half-listening to Sun chatter about the drawers in the kitchen. She was looking out for anything that looked a little odd, but this house was far better than the first five they had looked at. She shuddered at the thought of them.
She rejoined Sun in the master bedroom. He was throwing open the windows, muttering about getting up with the actual sun when she found him. She glanced at the spacious room, the massive closet that might be able to hold all his clothes. “It’s a lovely house.” she commented.
Sun brightened and turned to beam at her. “You think?”
She hummed. “Oh, yeah. The only problem I can think of is probably the price. What price range did you say you could do, again?”
He waved her off flippantly. “Oh, don’t worry about that, Der-bear.”
She sent him a look as he approached her. “I can worry about it all I like, brat. What happens if I just trust you and you end up on the streets, huh?”
He grinned as he unfolded her crossed arms and slowly began to lead her in a slow dance. “You forget that I come from a well-off family.”
“Brag all you like, but if you forget a payment or something–”
“That’s what you’re for!”
She furrowed her brow. “What.”
He faltered. “Well, I mean, I thought. I thought that’s what two people sharing a house did? They- they help?”
“Two people sharing?” She continued the dance once it was clear his worry had frozen him in place. He followed her, but it was clear there was some residual panic to deal with. “Are you saying you wanted us to live together?”
“Yes?” he squeaked.
She glanced around the room with new eyes. Could she imagine herself living here too, from time to time? She hadn’t had a permanent home since she started working aboard various ships, jumping from one to the next to complete her tasks. As a mechanic for the more unique and problematic fixes, she wasn’t in one place for very long. Most ships had general mechanics with them at all times.
“I had no idea. You didn’t say anything.” She finally turned back to him.
“I thought– I’m sorry, I thought I told you.”
She chuckled. “No harm done, Sunny. The thought does appeal to me.”
That cheered him up. “Really?”
She nodded. “You are aware that this means I wouldn’t be here all the time, though, right? My job keeps me busy.”
“Well of course!”
She glanced around the room. “You’d get this room, of course.”
Sun looked a bit downcast for a moment. “You don’t want to share it?”
That took her aback. Then she remembered that they had very different cultures, and she smiled. “We can have sleepovers in the living room, if you like. I’d like my own room, though.”
“Sleepovers…” he paused, and seemed to mull over that for a bit. “That sounds nice. What do you do at sleepovers, though?”
She felt bad for aliens, she really did. “Depends on the people, really. We could set up a fort, if you’re determined, or we can just sleep on the couch or floor and paint our nails… watch movies… gossip…”
His eyes lit up. “That sounds fun!”
“I thought you’d like it. You have a special knack for getting all the tea.” She snorted.
He grinned mischievously. “Of course I do.”
As she predicted, it was a rare occurrence for her to stay at the house at the same time Sun did. He co-captained the Starburst ship with his brothers, “Moony” and “Clipsy” and was often as busy as she was. She had yet to get him to spill their real names, so until she either met them or he was tired enough to tell her, she’d have to stick with their nicknames for the time being.
For the first time in a couple of weeks, there was a slow in emergencies, and she could kick back in their shared house. She had helped Sunny set up notifications and systems so that bills could be taken care of. She didn’t pay a whole lot just yet, but now that she was actually living in the house and using up electricity and whatnot, she was sure to put a reminder in her phone to contribute this month.
For now, however, she enjoyed the old pie she found in the fridge. She was sure Sunny had made it, rather than bought it, based on the taste. He was the only one she knew who knew how to make them this good. She cleaned off her dishes and moved to the living room. A fluffy grey cat sat on the couch, and didn’t seem to mind her presence when she sat. She had wondered about that, when she was spammed pictures of her friend’s new pet. Cats were testy at the best of times, and a new person in their home didn’t always go over well. He made sure to send several selfies with his cat to her every day, the silly goose.
She was scrolling through her missed texts when Sunny plopped next to her on the couch. He flopped against her, head nestled on her shoulder and eyes closed. She pressed a good morning kiss to his forehead before continuing to respond to friends and confirming dates for her next jobs. They were already lining up, and she hadn’t been home for more than several hours. It was a bit irritating, when she thought about it.
“Goo’ morning.” Sun yawned and pressed himself tighter to her side. She chuckled.
“Good morning sleepyhead. When’d you finally go to bed last night?” It was far beyond the time that he usually woke up.
He shrugged. “Go’da ask Moo’y.”
She rolled her eyes fondly and continued to mark up her calendar. Another text came through. She furrowed her brows. Right now? She glanced at the clock, and then her friend.
She declined, and advised them to reach out to one of her coworkers. She wasn’t the only one who knew how to deal with testy problems.
“When’d you get ‘ere?” Sun reached out to pet his cat, who had quickly hurried to sit in his lap, and by extension, Derin’s, with how close they were.
“Couple of hours ago. I tried to text you, but now I know why you didn’t respond.”
He huffed. “I’m never playing videogames with Moony ever again.”
She wisely didn’t say anything. This wasn’t the first time he had declared such a thing, and it wouldn’t be the last. He wasn’t a fan of video games, but it was usually during these times that the brothers were actually able to chat for once. Alien technology was great and all, but even it couldn’t master the distance of several galaxies separating two people.
“Did you get enough sleep?” He asked.
She shook her head. “Probably not.”
He went slack against her, making her fall further into the cushions supporting her side. “Then let’s just sleep here.”
“Brat.” She mumbled. She turned off the phone and adjusted pillows so she could get comfortable. Sun wasn’t any help, but she didn’t shove him off like she was so tempted to do.
When she awoke, her mouth tasted disgusting, and the weight she had been expecting was missing. She sat up and brushed her purple hair back. Her roots were showing by now, but she had long since lost the care to fix it. She didn’t always have the luxury to treat herself to a hair day.
Maybe she worked too much, she wondered as she stumbled to the bathroom. Her mouth tasted significantly better after brushing her teeth. She considered herself in the mirror. She pulled at her bangs, which were usually pinned back if they didn’t get stuck in her ponytail. They were past her nose now. She brushed her hair back again and made her way to her room. A shower would do her some good. Once she felt clean and awake, she could do something about breakfast and decide what she was going to do that day.
In a pair of unstained jeans, clean socks and a nice black t-shirt, Derin walked to the kitchen. Sun was missing from his usual domain, but she just shrugged and hunted down the things necessary to make a sandwich. It was two in the afternoon and the pie had long lost its ability to make her feel full.
There was something oddly delightful about eating a sandwich on the porch. Her feet were tucked under her to protect them from the natural cold of Sun’s homeplanet.
A weight settled next to her on the swinging bench. Expecting Sun, she turned her head and yelped. There was a young boy, perhaps eight years old, sitting on the bench. He swung his legs idly, and kept his hands tucked in his pockets. His skin was pale green, and his eyes a vivid yellow. The sun rays around his flat head didn’t go all the way around, with smaller rays on the right side of his head, and longer, wider ones on the opposite side.
He shrunk in on himself.
She frowned at the reaction and tried to recover from the minimal fright. “Um. Hey, kiddo.”
He glanced at her, but turned back to look across the backyard. Tall, uncut grass swayed under the shade of the purple trees.
She looked out that way too. The breeze passed them gently, ruffling her unpinned hair. She brushed back her hair, damp strands catching her fingers, and stood to head inside. Maybe Sun knew the kid. She glanced back at the bench before she left, and was surprised to see that it was empty. A glance around showed no signs of a sneaky green child.
She shrugged and headed inside. “Maybe it was a ghost?” She suggested jokingly. The door slid shut behind her, locking out the breeze and the unknown eight year old.
She found Sun by following his humming down the hall and one of the extra rooms. He was organizing his craft room again. He often sent her updates on his progress. Some days, when she wasn’t concerned about machinery blowing up in her face, they’d just chat while he sorted and she fixed.
She silently entered the room and sat in the spinning chair he owned while he considered his ceiling-tall bookshelf. She spun herself slowly. “So–”
He jumped and glared at her. “Don’t scare me like that!”
She snorted. “Not my fault you were lost in thought.”
He placed his hands on his hips. “I oughta put a bell on you.”
“I mean, I won’t stop you.” She spun. “But that doesn’t mean it would stay there.”
He humphed and continued to fold the pretty fabric. It would soon be stacked on the shelf with all the others.
“What’d you make last?”
“It’s a secret.” He winked at her.
“Oh, I see, I see.” She grinned as she set her chin on her palm. “Oh, hey. I had a question.”
“What’s that?”
“Do the neighbours got a green kid? He was sittin’ on our porch.”
“Hm, I don’t rightly know! We should… maybe go meet them.” He paused before placing the next folded fabric high on the emptiest shelf. His chunky off-white sweater rose up ever so slightly with the movement, revealing only more of his high-waisted jeans.
“I would’ve thought you’d have met them by now.” She mused.
He chuckled and waved a hand at her behind his back. He was really struggling with that new bolt of cloth. She debated getting up to help, but by the time she started to unfold her legs, he had hopped and shoved the cloth back. He sighed in satisfaction before turning back to his table. Only a couple left, and then whatever else he wanted to fix.
“Just haven’t gotten to it, is all. Oh! Speaking of which, I was able to fix your coat the other day. It’s hanging up in the closet.”
“Sweet! Thanks, Sunny.” This time she got just before he struggled too much, and fixed the pile of fabrics from behind him. Her hand rested on his shoulder for unneeded leverage. He turned to thank her, and she pressed a grateful kiss to his cheek. “That’s my favorite coat, you know.”
An orange hue filled his swirly yellow cheeks. “Mmhm.”
She left the room feeling giddy. Now she could wear her favorite coat again!
On the rare occasion when the both of them were home, they determined who would make dinner and who would do the dishes with a game. A very serious game of Uno.
Sun eyed her over his fan of cards. She only had two left.
His turn came, and he hit her with a series of plus twos.
She stared, aghast, at the growing pile. “How long have you been holding onto those?”
“Long enough.” He replied cheekily. His hand was now halved, and hers far from winning.
As she debated on what her next step should be (what was the likeliest move to return what he had dished out?) Sun’s sock clad foot bumped her calf again. Unperturbed, she rearranged her cards. She had no idea why he kept accidentally kicking her, but it didn’t distract her or anything so she didn’t mention it.
She made her move, and when she glanced up next, Sun looked slightly disappointed. She wasn’t sure why, as he also had a green card. Maybe it was his last green one?
She lost the game, no surprise there, and so she was stuck with dishwashing. Neither of them liked dishwashing, even if they had a lovely dishwasher and rinsed off their dishes when they were done eating. It was just tedious, she supposed.
She hummed as she made sure any remaining crumbs were scrubbed off.
“What’s that song called?”
“Hm? Oh– um, I don’t… I don’t remember.” She tilted her head. “I think it’s an Earth song. Maybe. I haven’t been there since I was little, though.”
“Wait, really? I thought you left Earth when you turned twenty. Didn’t you say something like that?”
She shook her head as she loaded the plates into the lower rack. “No, I left Bubongarry when I was twenty. That’s where I met my brother, Larry. You remember Larry, right?”
“I remember Larry.”
She turned to look at him, a concerned tilt to her brow. He sounded as if he was speaking through a grimace, all odd and stony. He was frozen in place, too, his flippy-do, as he called it, stuck in mid-air.
She wiped her hands on her jeans and crept closer. “Sunny, is something wrong?”
His shoulders slumped. “No. Nothing’s wrong. I just realized I’ve been very stupid.”
She grabbed him by the arm and spun him around. He looked a little shell-shocked. “Sunny, you’re not stupid.”
His lip wobbled as he turned his head away, pale yellow eyes glued to the ceiling. “I feel stupid.”
“Well, I’m sure it's a very valid feeling right now, but maybe not as bad as you fear. Maybe you can explain why you feel that way?”
His free hand glued itself to her sleeve, but his other hand held up the spatula like a ruler holding up his scepter. He shook his head. “No, it’s dumb.”
Well, it was clear this wasn’t going to be solved by standing over burning food. She turned off the stove burners, moved the hot pan to a cool burner, and led Sun over to the couch. His fluffy blanket was still out, luckily, and it was soon tossed over him. She sat and pulled his cocooned body into her lap.
His head dropped onto her shoulder, soft sunrays drooped and scrunched up against her chin, neck and shoulder. She let him stew for a while. His spatula fell to the couch, which she then tossed to the coffee table so she could adjust and pulled his legs up and off the floor. There we go. The perfect sad cuddle pile.
“I feel stupid.” he repeated.
“That’s okay. I feel stupid too sometimes.”
He groaned. “But it's embarrassing too.”
“Probably why you feel stupid, honey. Alright. Do you wanna spill or would you rather just cuddle and talk about other things?”
He mumbled nonsensically.
She didn’t want to push him too hard, but she also didn’t hear what he had said. “What’s that?”
He shrugged and turned his face into her shirt. “Later, I guess.” He mumbled.
She rubbed her hand up and down his spine. “That’s okay. Take all the time you need, love.”
His sharp nose pressed further into her shoulder. “I love you.” His voice was muffled through the black fabric of her shirt. “So much.”
She was a little surprised by the declaration, as well as the firmness that he said it with, but smiled nonetheless. She kissed a slumped ray and straightened. “Love you too, hon.”
He sat up abruptly, his hands lost in the cocoon of the furry blanket. “You’re not mad at me.” he said it as if it hadn’t occurred to him earlier. “And you love me.”
She nodded slowly. “Yes, hon.”
He dropped his head into his blanket covered hands. “This whole time I thought you were mad at me because I was trying to flirt with you via the wrong culture!”
Her mouth parted in shock.
“No wonder you weren’t totally receptive, I was going about this whole thing all wrong. I am so, so stupid–”
She caught his forearms gently. “W-what?”
“Well, I was trying to be sweet and learn about your Earth culture without asking you weird questions and then you remind me that you were never there for a significant portion of your life, which is why I felt stupid, and I just realized because of that I’ve been totally misreading your behavior.”
She squeezed his arms slightly, not entirely sure how to respond. “You’ve been… trying to flirt with me?”
He nodded morosely. “I’m sorry I assumed so much…”
“No, no, nothing to forgive.” she bit the inside of her cheek. “For the sake of no longer assuming, what… sort of relationship do you want with me?”
“Wh-what sort? What do you mean?”
Her chipped black nail polish was far more encouraging to look at than his liquid golden eyes. “Well, I assumed… aha, that word again… I thought you weren’t interested in dating. When I brought it up, you were so vehement that you weren’t interested… It’s why I never asked–”
“Asked what?”
“Asked you out on a date.” Her voice was so quiet.
It wasn’t like it was difficult being happy with what she had. He was a wonderful person and a wonderful friend. She enjoyed his presence, and it wasn’t like much would change if they started to date. They already lived together and chatted all the time, when there was time made for it.
“Wait. Wait.”
She glanced up. Sun’s brows were furrowed, and his gaze directed at her wrists. He freed a hand, and held up her arm. She wasn’t sure what they were looking at. It was a basic, clean arm. Freckles dotted its length, and there were a couple scars born of tired clumsiness or work accidents. All in all, it wasn’t interesting.
“The bracelet I gave you two years ago. What does it mean to you?”
She wasn’t sure at all what this had to do with anything, but Sun wouldn’t derail the conversation for something so miniscule. There had to be something more to this.
“It’s a cherished gift that my friend gave to me.”
“Your friend.”
“Well, yes.”
“And nothing more?”
She had a feeling that the bracelet wasn’t simply a bracelet that he felt like making for her. “Sun, what are you really hinting at?”
“Before I tried to court you by your culture, I went by mine first. It was what I knew, and I was too shy to do more than that. Yeonwyns, for longer than I know, have always thought actions to hold more value than words. It’s just… what we do. So when I gave you this, I foolishly assumed you knew what it meant. I apologize. It’s a courting gift, Derin. I completely understand if you want nothing to do with me going forward, by the way, I can help you pack and–”
She cupped her hand over his mouth. “So for the last two years we’ve been dating and I didn’t know it?”
He nodded slowly. “I’ll make sure to get anything that’s mine from the small ship, prom–”
“Hush. You’re panicking, Sunny. Breathe. Calm down. I don’t hate you.”
“You don’t? But that’s like a total breach of trust and understanding and–” There were tears in the corner of his eyes.
“And I don’t hate you. You have never, not once, forced me to do something that made me uncomfortable. You’ve always respected my boundaries and made me feel safe. I don’t hate you Sunny.”
He blinked repeatedly and nodded, the movement small and just as rough. “I totally understand if you do…” He said quietly.
“Honey, I should have asked more questions if it took me two years to realize that my understanding of our relationship was different than yours. That makes me feel pretty stupid.”
He looked to the side as he chuckled once. “Don’t say that.”
“Hm? Don’t like being on the other side of it?” She leaned to the side to meet his line of sight. He grinned and rolled his eyes.
He sobered. “What do you want to do, Derin?”
“Well, I think there’s only one thing to do.” She said seriously. “We’re going to have to go on a date and start over.”
“Start over?”
She nodded. “Unless that doesn’t appeal–”
“Yes! Please.” He leaned forward to deliver his message with as much exuberance as possible. Upon realizing just how little space there was between his sharp, long nose and her own shorter one, he leaned back, eyes flicking away from hers and completely unaware or unbothered by how his hands were now clasped around hers.
“Although, I do have to ask: Do you normally go around kissing your friends and telling them you love them?”
She snorted. “I mean, yeah, but when you say it like that, it sounds a lot less friendly.”
“I didn’t think it was just friendly.” He grumbled.
She chuckled. “Suddenly I feel the need to call my two friends and make sure I haven’t been in a couple of marriages I didn’t know about.”
His wide eyes told her he was far less amused than she was.
They cuddle for a little longer, neither wanting food more than they wanted reassurance of the other person being in their arms.
“We don’t have to, if you’re not comfortable,” She said. It felt like such a random declaration after so long a silence.
“Hm?” He sounded sleepy. Her arms squeezed around him instinctively. Cuteness aggression, perhaps?
“I’m just saying… You don’t have to feel like we have to continue if you realize that–”
He pushed himself up to glare into her eyes. The effect was diminished by the sleepy glaze. “I want you.”
She glanced away from him. The intensity was surprising. “Okay.”
“If you don’t want this, and you’re looking for a way out–”
“No.” She interrupted. “I want you too. It’s just… it’s probably gonna be slow. And awkward.”
He chuckled and settled down again. “I love your awkward.”
Derin rolled her eyes. “You just like to tease me.”
“Mm, that too.”
so I got into grad school today with my shitty 2.8 gpa and the moral of the story is reblog those good luck posts for the love of god
(I was up at one in the morning, the usual and) I decided I wanted to make a little self insert comic! I... uh, admittedly, did less of a comic and more of a couple of sketches. So! for context, Moon noticed how often this character--who I guess we'll call Straw or Strawberry--wears bows, so he made one for her out of paper and a paperclip. You can't tell, because his face is an unmoving metal plate, but he's rather nervous~
I might make more of a written story of them later on, but this was as far as I got before I fell asleep last night lol.
(Straw loves her paperclip hair bow btw)
the quality of the video will be bad but. here’s the speedpaint for my drawing i posted earlier on my other account :D (i didn’t wanted to add anymore things to the original post and... i like speedpaints, i think they are fun to watch so if you think that too you are in luck??)
….anyways i’m going right back to sleep because i still need this cold exterminated /silly
Also. Yeah this reminded me that I cannot wait until artfight. ;-;
