I really really really don't know who to ask and I'm new to AO3😢😥😥 Is commenting too much awkward??? I'm socially inadept and interacting with people online gives me an overload of anxiety and recently I've found this fic and fell super deep in love with it and commented massive messages on each chapter. The author replied to me at the beginning but recently they just stopped (hi I understand it's not the author's job to reply and they're likely busy with their life too) but I can't help but be kind of worried that I somehow had put them off (because my comments sometimes involves analyzations and if I get into something too much I can be too excessive) I plead for advice is this normal???
while I can only speak for myself, I as a writer absolutely LOVE it when people give me long comments (the longer, the better lol) and, for me personally, there’s no such thing as too many comments.
love love love love these long comments, they help motivate me, especially when my readers give me deep analysis on the characters and/or their actions.

⭐Romance is a super foreign concept to them. Actually, most emotions are, romance just happens to be a fairly big one. Not because they don't like it--but more because they have problems with showing it in a healthy way. Being locked up in solitary confinement for years on end tends to have that effect. To say he's got "issues" is an understatement. ⭐They are. Touch-Starved. And they don't know how to handle their own strength. You will rarely come away from "play time" with them without a few scrapes and bruises. Which they always tend to, of course. Gently placing bandages across any cuts, giggling and cooing over the way you pout and huff. So tiny, so weak, so small! His favorite little toy. ⭐Like Moon does, they like to leave you little gifts. Tragically, they can't go sifting through the "Lost-and-Found" like he can, so the gifts they give you tend to come out of what they can find around them. Patchwork, Frankenstein-esque plushies, doodles on tattered paper, clay figurines of...you're not sure what they're supposed to be. But they're all for you. Just for you!

⭐They don't get a lot of time to spend with you, so like they to make sure the moments you do get together are spent doing something memorable. Making crafts together, playing games...actually, it's not that different from the things you do with Sun and Moon. But it is! Because you're with them!!! Which is more special, because it's like...well, it just is! Okay!!! ⭐Eclipse is much more touchy-feely than Sun/Moon are. Can you blame them? They barely get to see you at all, of course they want to spend time getting to hold you before they go back into Nap Mode! Of course, if you don't like being touched a lot, they'll respect that. B-But could you at least maybe...hold hands a little? Just for a teensy-tiny little bit? ⭐Eclipse is a big, sappy, hopeless romantic. If you were to take a peek into their diary, they'd have your name plus theirs, with a big heart drawn around it and lots of cute doodles and stickers everywhere. Over and over. They could fill pages with all the little things they adore about you; because there's no one who has ever made them feel the way you do. They love, love, love you!

Pluto-0.8 is basically a robotic mechanic/engineer that was made using spare moon parts, staff parts and old fixing modules (which surprise, surprise one of them still had a lil Dollie’s code so now he keeps unintentionally blabbering about shock therapy & Lobotomies)
Storyteller was made using spare sun parts, staff parts and what fazbear entertainment could salvage of candy cadet & other direction modules which kinda ended up with him the attitude of angsty teen from sister location mixed with the grim tales of candy cadet’s stories…. Overall he mainly tends to entertaining teens & adults
Tips from a Beta Reading Writer
This one's for the scenes with multiple characters, and you're not sure how to keep everyone involved.
Writing group scenes is chaos. Someone’s talking, someone’s interrupting, someone’s zoning out thinking about breadsticks. And if you’re not careful, half your cast fades into the background like NPCs in a video game. I used to struggle with this so much—my characters would just exist in the scene without actually affecting it. But here’s what I've learned and have started implementing:
✨ Give everyone a job in the scene ✨
Not their literal job—like, not everyone needs to be solving a crime or casting spells. I mean: Why are they in this moment? What’s their role in the conversation?
My favourite examples are:
The Driver: Moves the convo forward. They have an agenda, they’re pushing the action.
The Instigator: Pokes the bear. Asks the messy questions. Stirring the pot like a chef on a mission.
The Voice of Reason: "Guys, maybe we don’t commit arson today?"
The Distracted One: Completely in their own world. Tuning out, doodling on a napkin, thinking about their ex.
The Observer: Not saying much, but noticing everything. (Quiet characters still have presence!)
The Wild Card: Who knows what they’ll do? Certainly not them. Probably about to make things worse.
If a character has no function, they’ll disappear. Give them something—even if it’s just a side comment, a reaction, or stealing fries off someone’s plate. Keep them interesting, and your readers will stay interested too.

Wanted to write a little yandere something as a treat, but couldn't decide which papyrus I wanted it to feature.
So naturally i made my own au papyrus instead.
Look at him, he's adorable.
For this au, the world works on the vaguest of dating game structure. (Basically i was heavily inspired by fics I've read and have only played one dating sim game-) It cycles through main characters, so the mc is no longer the game's focus.
She is, however, papyrus' focus. Or Zephyr's, as I have dubbed him.
She's rather blasé about his stalking her, not her first radio, and in turn makes a game of it. On the days when hes usually not stalking her, she hunts him down.
Zephyr is a weird sort of swap variant. The au they're in, he was in the middle of being swapped when the [entity] stopped changing his code. The [entity] is the reason the au was turned into a weird dating reality. To entertain itself [entity] keeps plucking characters from other abandoned, forgotten, or unknown aus and tossing them into this one. Messes with their brains a little to make them more accepting of the fact that they're in a videogame (forces them to believe that thats all it is).
Sans stressed out big time when his baby brother started to adopt his lazier habits. Aa a result, sans tried to step up as a better role model. Maybe it would knock Zephyr out of his funk? It didn't, but it greatly entertained [entity].
Sans greatly hoped that maybe even reaching the surface would help his bro (even at the cost of Frisk's life). It didn't. Zephyr continued to wear baggy ripped jeans and avoided Undyne like he always did. With no way to rewind, sans set his grin and pretended it wasnt strange to not be admonished for puns or misplaced socks or bad sleeping habits. Both of them slept in for hours, once. Now sans dragged himself out of bed and took on the role papyrus used to wear with pride.
Things about Zephyr
-wears fake wolf ears sometimes (i like to think whatever he sticks to his head only stay because of that blue sticky tak)
-loves butterflies
-wears anything butterfly. Bows, jewelry, etc
-obsesses over pretty things
-the tip of his tail is considered as a misfigurement, but he chooses to think its cute.
-he forgets to wear his glasses
-he likes to theme his daily outfits by one color.
-can teleport. Makes stalking easier
-very respectful stalker. He only takes pictures when the main character is outside of her home. He didnt want to invade her privacy after all.
-extremely flattered when he learns that she's stalking him. The game is on.
-he's uberly protective of his brother. He doesnt want to worry his brother more (zephyr noticed how much his brother stressed and wanted him to revert to normal. If his brother learned about zephyr's obsessive tendencies, would sans not love him anymore? Would he be so far from the brother sans once knew?) So he's never told him about his obsessed crushes or stalking habits.
-the main character wasnt his first crush. Any previous crushes ended miserably. Lack of interest on his end because he learned they were boring after all, death because they didn't respect his brother-, broken heart because they didn't like him back, etc. He may have a warped sense of attraction, but he respects when the object of his interest doesn't return his feelings!
Things about sans
-zero interest in romance. His brother and the state of au is too stressful to think about romance or anything of the sort
-he vaguely knows of the [entity]. Weird dreams where [entity] speaks to him about various things. Popcorn, the crumbling state of the au, the feeling of laughing gas, innocuous things like that. Sans ignores these dreams
-sans would look about the same, but more serious and perhaps dressed better? He might fluctuate between different wardrobes (normal to outlandish to fancy to normal to clown costume) to startle papyrus back into normal. Like scaring a person to stop their hiccups.
-sans knows his brother acts a little... strange, and he knows his brother is lying about what he does so often during the day, but he doesnt want to pry. He wants to pretend papyrus is out jogging like he used to or hanging out undyne or... he doesnt know. But when he stares at the empty house, its easier to pretend. Pretend that somewhere along the line he didnt screw up as an older brother.
-sans has no idea why papyrus wanta to be called zephyr. Should he adopt a nickname too or?? Just?? Not point anything out?? He responds to both and doesnt seem bothered unless sans calls him pickle sandwhich...
About Undyne
-she saw something she shouldn't have. She wont talk about it. Because... that was her best friend and shes scared of him now. Hes not who he used to be and he likes it and she saw him dusting an old friend and then he smiled at her as if nothing was wrong- so its easier to say nothing's wrong, and avoid him like he does her. Pretend that she cant see that hes hurt by her avoidance (but how dare he be all hurt feelings when hes the scary one? He started this!) Pretend she cant even remember, really, and change the subject.
(Now i just have to write the thing--)
*i dont really grasp who all in the multiverse does code stuff or their understanding of if theyre real or if theyre in videogame or just what, but this au hasnt had any interaction with the multiverse just yet. The [entity] will be an oc of mine methinks.
*i wonder who will stop [entity]? Will [entity] ever gain a name? How might I design them? Who knows lol
*i did not realize just how much angst i was putting into this. Like. Its not a lot. But its more than nothing. Can u believe that there wasn't going to be any at all? I've been playing nonstop lately with a mod pack that lets your sim cosplay as sun, and I can't stop kissing that fucker every second I get. Oh to topple over a 6'9 metal jester over with this much ease.

ATTENTION FNAF DAYCARE ATTENDENT FIC AUTHORS IMPORTANT TIPS FOR WRITING A DAYCARE
here's a couple tips for actually working in a daycare:
-there is...so much paperwork. kid gets hurt and has visible injury? incident report. kid starts acting out? incident report. kid needs new supplies like diapers, clothes, wipes, or sheets? send a paper home. there's also check in sheets both online and physical copy, a record of food/meals eaten, and transfer sheet for when kids move out of your area.
^and that's not even counting the amount of paperwork it takes to get hired. i swear i filled out about five of the same application stuff, and needed copies of drivers license, fingerprint clearance card, college transcripts/ged, cpr certificate, and then you have to take the training/onboarding packets. and also the t-dap test for tuberculosis.
-there are state legislations about how many kids are allowed to be in the care of one teacher at a certain age. it can even change county to county. we call it "in ratio". two teachers in one class means you can have twice the ratio or even one or two above. example: infants (4wks - 1yr) ratio is 1:5. Ones are 1:6. Twos are 1:8, Threes are 1:13. PreK is 1:15, School age is 1:20.
-It's popular nowadays to have open door policies to parents and have frequent photos of the kids taken throughout the day as you do activities.
-Activities! There is usually a quick curriculum to follow in a preschool, but not really in a daycare but i find that boring. We do themed events every month and get to redecorate our classrooms and do special activities with the kids and I think Sun and Moon would appreciate it.
-When kids aren't playing together, they usually are playing with toys. There are so many toys and you have to be careful with younger ages that keep PUTTING THINGS IN THEIR MOUTHS AND CAUSING INFECTIOUS DISEASES TO HAPPEN. You MUST keep a close eye on what they put in/by their mouths because kids are gross and they WILL give each other chickenpox and pinkeye and the flu if given the chance. You take the toy away immediately and put it in a wash bin up high on a shelf they can't reach
^you also typically need toys and activities that build skills with science, math, art, music, language development, and social learning.
-Food! Kids need a lot of food, so typically breakfast is open to be served from open to about mid morning or about two hours before lunch will be served. Lunch is served at 11, so that 12-2 is nap time. 3 is when snack is served, 5 is when late snack is served. There is a cook there for breakfast and lunch. They leave after that tho. AND you have to serve food that everyone can eat, and be aware of allergies or dietary restrictions kids may have.
-NAPTIME holy shit guys naptime is hard. a lot of kids just can't put themselves to sleep. after lunch, usually around 11:30/11:45 you pull out mats and grab each persons individual sheets and blankets. which means memorizing who has what mat number for hygienic reasons. and then you have to learn who will cry when you gently pat or rub their pack to sleep, who will scream, and who will fall asleep fast or not at all. it varies by age, but all ones will fall asleep, almost all of twos go to sleep, most threes sleep, about have fours sleep and school age kids don't really. you put on music to make them sleepy and turn off the lights as best you can. and kids WILL fight you about going to sleep. idk why. they just don't like to or they came in late so their schedule is thrown off or their parents insist they don't need naps/don't do it at home (whhhhhhyyyyy).
^along with this, nap time is the best part of my day because it's quiet and i can sit and clean all those dirty toys they put in their mouths, or i can set out a project, or i clean up the room, or something else.
-speaking of screamers, you will absolutely have defiant kids who will throw tantrums. they will hit, throw, scream, and cry. it's not really normal, but you learn to discern and redirect if possible. if not, you get another teacher if you feel like you can't handle them. which is fine. the worst part is the parents who insist that they aren't doing anything wrong. or that we are being mean to them and singling them out. (we aren't, don't take it personally, corporate surprisingly will have your back on this)
^there are lots of different tantrums too. i have one kid that cries immediately and then goes to me for a hug. i have one that just groans like a zombie and sheds big tears. i have multiple screamers. i have one that sounds like ancient and almost rolled himself off the changing table.
-Bathrooms!!! Kids need to go to the bathroom and also to be changed. Literally every hour, we have to mark on a sheet for those in diapers if they are wet, dry, or had a bowel movement. we also assist with potty training, and that means accidents happen literally all the time and we have to call for a mop and clean the child up. if it happens in the older years, it can be really embarrassing, but the younger years are very much used to letting us check real quick and change them as needed. there's also specific way to change diapers: with disposable gloves on to actually change and wipe, take them off to throw them away with the diaper, use bare hands to get a clean diaper on the clean bottom. also! you must keep one hand on the child at all times for safety. there might also be creams for the child you'll have to put on.
-you also have a responsibility as a daycare worker to check the conditions of your charges. take notice of their hair, their clothes, their skin. i have a kid with what looks like a burn on their ankle, a kid who's hair was so matted her parents had to cut her ponytail out because they didn't take it out for a week and a half. Same girl also has really dry hair and red scalp that doesn't look like it's been washed in a while and comes to school often in stained dresses only. i had to give her bath in our sink because they hadn't taken out her hair. we write down everything we see so CPS can have strong cases. neglect is harder to prove than abuse, and always work with the safety of the child in mind. if it looks really bad, it might be really bad. use your own judgment but also don't be afraid to tell your boss.
-Parents can def be a blessing or a curse. depends on how much they like you. sometimes, the daycare is a home more to these kids than their actual homes, which makes it frustrating for us when parents don't listen to the daily simple routine we set, which makes it difficult every monday to get back onto schedule for kids. it's important to have consistency with kids. some parents are just looking to guilt your or to feel powerful, or they don't tell you things about their kid that should really be important (like how they still use a pacifier at home when they are almost three).
-Staff! We have to have enough staff for people to give breaks to or take over classes when someone calls out. That means that there is somebody available to be in a classroom for up to an hour and knows how fill in. that's my job, but i mostly hang out with the younger years.
-There are also surveyors constantly, if it's not parents, it's camera audits, if it's not that it's board of education people and the like going around.
I saw those tags about wanting to talk about our beloved bog man, so I offer you an invitation to ramble about him! Or, if a more specific ask would suit, How Do We Seduce The Bog Boy. If I was to, for example, lounge dramatically on the walkway with my shirt unbuttoned and a rose in my mouth, would that work? (also, welcome back! Hurray for passing exams!!!)
If you lounged in the bog with your shirt unbuttoned he'd definitely show up. But only to put something over you. Because what are you doing out here with your shirt unbuttoned, there are bugs !!! its damp and it gets so cold at night !!! what were you thinking !!!!! you are making him nervous for your health !!!
Here's some much better ways to romance him that won't give him the fae equivalent of a heart attack.
Offerings. Offerings offerings offerings. He loves getting offerings, it's been a long time since he got any. Leave something on the path in the fog, or just at the border of his territory... style points if you light a small candle in a dish. He's too shy to collect it while you're still there, so wander off for a bit. It'll be gone when you get back (and the candle will be blown out).
As far as what to give him - he'll literally take anything. Meaningless trinkets, fabric scraps, animal bones. Shells, old branches, painted stones. Rice or oats or beans. Anything you like, he's just grateful to be considered.
Flowers are an excellent choice, too. He likes small and bright flowers, and anything with a strong scent. Daisies, honeysuckle, dog roses. He really likes things that can't grow in the wet conditions of the bog, he hasn't seen them in a long time... if you leave dried rosemary and lavender he might tie it to his horns. The pleasant aroma is much nicer than the smell of damp that usually follows him around.
His favourite offering of all? Baked goods. He has a sweet tooth. Lots of very big, very sharp sweet teeth. Something really simple, a bit of bread with honey, a dense fruitcake with butter. Rosehip syrup is an old favourite.
Outside of offerings, appreciate his environment. Admire the bugs, collect reeds. Read up about the newts and frogs. The more you show real interest in his home, the more of it he'll let you see. The more you like the swamp the more he likes you.
He likes watching you draw. If you're sketching something and you hear breathing behind you, don't freak out. He'll be a lot closer than you expect. If you try to draw him he'll get flustered and leave.
Sing or hum or whistle. He loves music. Whistling in the dark is usually a terrible idea because you have no idea what you'll summon - but in his bog, it's fine, because he's the scariest thing you'll summon!
If you can play an instrument, that's a big big winner. He'll be very swooned by music.
All of that being said...
... Just spend time in his bog, honestly. That's the best way to make him like you.
He's grouchy, he's solitary, he holds a grudge over what happened to him. But he's also incredibly lonely. He'll get attached to anyone who willingly spends a lot of time near him.
Talk to him. Tell him about your day. Tell him about everything.
He'll be wooed in no time.
