The cartouche-shaped ring form was especially popular in Etruria in the later 500s B.C., where immigrant Greek goldsmiths from Ionia introduced it. The choice of motifs and style of decoration on this ring are also found on objects in other media produced by these Ionian immigrant artists. All Greek and Etruscan metal rings with engraved bezels ultimately derive from Egyptian and Phoenician cartouche rings. The influence is clearest on those rings with a long, straight-sided bezel with rounded ends. Artisans adapted the arrangement of the decoration into three rows, as well as the manufacturing technique of a separately attached bezel, from the Phoenicians.

One of Mexico’s most prominent journalists, whose team revealed a conflict-of-interest scandal ensnaring President Enrique Pena Nieto last year, has been fired, her employer MVS Radio said on Sunday.
Late last year, reporter Carmen Aristegui exposed that Pena Nieto’s wife, Angelica Rivera, was in the process of acquiring a luxury house from a government contractor that won millions of dollars in state business.
It later emerged that both Pena Nieto and his finance minister had also purchased houses from government contractors.
The revelations damaged Pena Nieto’s reputation, compounding a deep political crisis triggered by his government’s handling of a probe into the disappearance and apparent massacre of 43 trainee teachers in September.
Last week, MVS Radio and Aristegui publicly locked horns over a brand-new platform for investigative journalism called Mexicoleaks.
The company contended that Aristegui and her team offered MVS’s name and funding for Mexicoleaks without authorization.
MVS subsequently fired two of her star investigative reporters due to “loss of confidence”, prompting Aristegui to insist that reinstatement of her reporters was an “absolute condition”.
“Instead of firing them, we should be giving them prizes,” Aristegui said on her morning radio show.
The events have inspired a torrent of Tweets supporting Aristegui under the hashtag #EndefensadeAristegui (in defense of Aristegui).
In its statement on Sunday, MVS Radio said “as a company, we can’t accept conditions and ultimatums from our collaborators.”

ALERTA SSPE POR NUEVA MODALIDAD DE ENGAÑO TELEFÓNICO
Debido a que delincuentes han estado adquiriendo chips telefónicos con ladas locales y se los llevan a cárceles de sur y desde ahí cometen los engaños que ha ido en aumento en los últimos meses las cuales son realizadas desde otras entidades federativas con chips telefónicos con números de Baja California, por lo cual la Secretaría de Seguridad Pública del Estado (SSPE), previene a la ciudadanía sobre la nueva modalidad de timo.
La utilización de chips con ladas de los municipios de Baja California han estado siendo denunciados al 089 ya que personas han sido objeto de engaños telefónicos a nivel, en lo que va del año se han registrado de 19 mil 528 llamadas en diversas modalidades, de los cuales Mexicali registra 5 mil 234, Tijuana 9 mil 194, Ensenada cerca de 4 mil, Tecate 672 y Rosarito 440
Las modalidades son:
- Familiar secuestrado 50%
- Amenaza del crimen organizado 20%
- Amenaza por supuesta denuncia 13%
- Familiar detenido en la aduana 6%
- Fraude ( Rifas o sorteos) 4 %
- Autoridad exigiendo dinero para exonerarlo de un delito 2%
- Familiar detenido por un delito 1%
- Familiar hospitalizado, autoridad que ofrece protección a empresarios, fotografías comprometedoras y amenaza de asalto reflejan el 4% de reportes.
Algunos números reportados por la ciudadanía al 089 en la entidad son: 7712838125, 7712917188, 5530020000, 6462272360, 7711969259, 3311467658, 6651192208.
El factor principal para evitar ser sorprendidos en estos actos delictivos es la prevención, por lo que si usted recibe una llamada en alguna de las modalidades ya mencionadas conserve la calma, cuelgue inmediatamente y comuníquese al 089 y proporcione toda la información.
PATRULLA DE SIMUTRA ARROLLA CICLISTA POR CACERÍA DE UBER
A todo lo que da está la cacería de los carros Uber en Mexicali, en el que tantos los taxistas “formales” como los patrulleros del Sistema Municipal del Transporte los acechan y persiguen. Pero estas acciones están causando daños colaterales como el accidente en el que una patrulla 23 del SMT impactó a un ciclista en una persecución en el cruce de la calzada Independencia y Río Nuevo.
Los conductores Uber señalaron que los agentes de la Dirección de Seguridad Pública que llegaron al lugar no detuvieron al conductor del auto oficial ni se lo llevaron presentado ante la autoridad.
El lesionado fue levantado por paramédicos de la Cruz Roja que lo llevaron al Hospital General donde quedó bajo observación.
Se informó que el patrullero al identificar un carro Uber se aventó una vuelta “bombérica” sin haber tomado las precauciones e impactó al del biciclo lanzándolo por el aire
