i think the wicked fandom as a whole discounts fiyeraba far too much in favor of gelphie.

this isn’t to hate on gelphie at all, i personally don’t ship them and i hc glinda as aromantic, but i respect the ship and i see where people are coming from. however, said people (from what i’ve seen) tend to ignore all of what makes fiyeraba so good and ship gelphie instead.

fiyero, the prince, chose elphaba over everything. his status, glinda, etc., all for this green-skinned girl who the wizard and everyone else is framing as a villain. who he never looked at any differently because of her skin color, who he never saw as anything but who she was.

glinda does love elphaba, but she would never sacrifice all that fiyero did. glinda cares too much about how other people see her to be able to choose elphaba, which is why they never would have worked. their priorities are far too different, but fiyero fits with elphaba perfectly.

Since Wicked: For Good will probably be also around the same amount of time as Part one I hope we get a lot more scenes with these two. Not just because I absolutely adore them, but because the Fiyeraba hate is out of control.

I hope the movie shows just how much Fiyero gives up to be with Elphaba. (not even caring if he dies as long as Elphaba is safe) And how much of an anchor he became to Elphaba, that the moment she believes she's lost him she loses all of her will to try and do Good in Oz.

Note: It is Ok to have criticisms of a ship. My problem is when people come after people who do support the ship, bashing and hating on them .

Okay, but hear me out - In the movie, the sequence of the scenes where Elphaba learns about the horrific treatment of Animals and then meets Fiyero is soooo important. This transition between the two scenes highlights an emotional turning point for Elphaba. Dr. Dillamond's revelations intensify her awareness of injustice, leaving her searching for a way to act. Enter Fiyero, who not only contrasts the bleakness of the previous scene with his carefree presence but also will ultimately influence Elphaba's growth. As we know, eventually Fiyero is a foil to encourage Elphaba to transform her ideals into action, giving her the courage to make her voice heard. The scene order underscores how pivotal Fiyero's presence is in shaping Elphaba's journey from bystander to the unlimited badass she becomes later on. And Jonathan Bailey's version of Fiyero is much softer and is given a lot more space to be kind than stage!Fiyero, and I just really love how that, in contrast to the cruelty described in the previous scene just highlights the differences but also ties them together for Elphaba's story.
