Character/Story Tropes We Need More Of #2

☾ Characters who overthink every conversation and spiral for days but still manage to be leaders because anxiety and strategy are lowkey cousins.

☾ The “cool” character who is actually just socially oblivious and good at pretending to know what’s going on. They're two "uh-huh"s away from a breakdown.

☾ The mentor figure who is alive, well, and sticks around instead of tragically dying to “motivate” the main character. They just help. With boundaries.

☾ Characters who aren’t hot but think they are, and that confidence is just delusional enough to make it work.

☾ “Found family” but they’re all annoying in different ways and have group chats full of memes and passive-aggressive scheduling conflicts.

☾ Introverts who fall in love with OTHER introverts. No chaotic extrovert dragging them to parties. Just two tired people sitting quietly and not touching.

☾ Characters who start the story bitter, cynical, and done, but slowly get softer, not because someone “fixes” them, but because they feel safe enough to thaw.

☾ People who don’t know how to flirt so they’re just like, “Want to see this weird bug I found?” and it WORKS.

☾ The chosen one who only got picked because the real chosen one skipped town and they were the next eligible idiot.

☾ Characters who just don’t want closure. They’re like, “nah, I’ll live with the emotional mess, thanks.” And they do. Functionally. Somehow.

☾ Characters with big, scary reputations who are actually just anxious little freaks that got misinterpreted and now it’s too late to fix it.

☾ The side character who’s clearly too smart to be here and is plotting their way out of this narrative in the background.

☾ Characters with hobbies that have nothing to do with the plot. Like the villain who’s also really into pottery or birdwatching.

☾ Enemies-to-allies with NO romantic tension. They hate each other. Then they work together. Still hate each other. End of arc.
