Dark eyes settle on Raja as she takes another sip of her martini, now taking her sweet time in responding to the fuming Autumn fey. She only looks back to her when a good-looking man with pointed ears interrupts Raja’s walking and offers him a drink, steering him towards the ballroom and briefly meeting Aurora’s eyes.

“... That isn’t just any human, that’s my family. Of course I gave him every protection.” Stern eyes soften into something akin to worry as she sighs and turns her attention to the other fey, Fen’harel’s distant family. Robin was one of her favorites in the Autumn nobility - more modern than many of her peers and with an admirable understanding for life that far extended the Otherworld. But she was also loud, and Aurora’s attention was stretched far too thin that night to focus on arguing with anyone. “I promised his mother that I would let him learn about the world completely on his own but, unfortunately, being ignorant in Rome now will just let him killed far quicker... So I’m speeding up the process of making him not ignorant, Robin... I don’t like it anymore than you do.” A pause. “Though I am grateful you care enough to say something.”

"Aurora, darling, dearest. Should I say that I have no words? But that would be lying, I have all the words, beginning with why and ending on what," she shakes her head in what can only be described at exasperation at the younger eladrin's actions. Before she even finishing speaking, a hundred and one plans form on her head, a hundred and one other possibilities in which Aurora could have revealed the truth to the poor human without risking his safety to a hungry crowd. Despite it all, though, she stays her tongue, deciding against further irritating the Chancellor when she already seems too stressed for words. “I will not utter another word, then, however I do suggest you begin phrasing your promises so that a loophole can be exploited, that promise of yours is not going to help him, even if it is what his mother wanted. After all, do you know if that is what he wants?” Then she shrugs. “Just doing my job as a good Samaritan, there is no need to thank me for it.”

"We are going to have to talk about how formal you are," Robin muses with mild amusement as she bumps her shoulder against Inan's in a friendly manner. It is a small teasing comment, but she means it. She wants the same sort of wardship Laer and Aurora have, one built upon trust and understanding, and the formalities need to go if she wants that to happen. She doesn't want a blindly loyal guard, but a friend and advisor willing to tell her she is wrong and offer her another perspective. Robin knows she is prone to pettiness and cattiness, and she believes that Inan's diligence might prove the perfect counterbalance. "Correct. I need to find Laer first to confirm what the Master of Secrets vacation means for Tamlen, but if he is not gone, then we will likely join in body and soul once more."

"We Are Going To Have To Talk About How Formal You Are," Robin Muses With Mild Amusement As She Bumps

The city had fallen into chaos, the King a frenzy of power that Inan had never seen. Hellfire and changelings, his dark blade at his side. A bow of ebony obsidian ringing through the air. The Titan. There was much that Inan was unfamiliar with here, but hunting drow, defending people, and battle were three things that felt as though they had never changed. "Understood," Inan said measuredly, Robin was about as far from Fen'Harel as a person could be and for that he felt that he was grateful. "do you intent to reunite with the others? We were all scattered."

Ah yes, the sex. Copulation was required for mortals to reproduce and attempt to live beyond their feeble lives through the blood of their progeny. He knew some of the fey found pleasure in the flesh, but Zahrya had always seen himself above it. He knew for a brief moment, his parents held genuine love for each other and brought him forth as a result. Did he bloom out of the unions of their bodies or out of pure magic like he’d hoped for his future heir? Maybe both? It was something to ponder.

“I have tried to reproduce in the past, but have not been successful. I doubt this setting has any unique quality that would allow my seed to take root when the faerie realm could not.” Because, by his logic, what would be the point if not to expand their numbers? Not to mention there were other factors. He had no labyrinth to safeguard the child, plus the Queen was in jail. Imagine nurturing a flower bud in a world where Her Majesty was behind bars! Absolutely not. “Besides, my options are quite limited. Excluding the other chancellors, there aren’t many higher-born eladrin in attendance.”

....

Zahryaofspring:

“It’s not about your seed taking root,” she begins to say, deliberating how she is to explain to the Chancellor that he is extremely wind up and a quick fuck might help him wind down, considering everything else. Nothing will relieve the weight of their Queen being imprisoned, but a brief distraction while he is incapable of helping her might do wonders. “It is about a brief sense of peace, a moment to relax amidst all of our current stressors. Think of it of a sort of exercise to calm one nerves and destress. Of course, it is not for everybody and I do mean to pressure you, but it is quite a delightful experience and I believe you should at least give it a try. As a Spring Eladrin you must be aware that new beginnings, trying new things, is an important part of the cycle of life, correct?”

She has to bite her tongue to prevent a rather filthy comment that wants to break free. After all, she doesn’t think mentioning to the Chancellor that other species could be good sex partners would be a good idea. The man has made his views of non-eladrin clear.

“Now, perhaps there are not many higher born eladrin in attendance, but I have seen quite a few common eladrin that are quite the sight,” she points out as she recalls her brief re-introduction with the Eladrin Marshal. “Furthermore, may I remind you that both Fen’harel and Aurora have common parents? Implying that the children of common eladrin cannot be powerful seems rather odd, when we have clear examples of the contrary.”

“Ex-boyfriend?” Lain continued to guess, a little smirk on his lips. Not that he would judge her for falling into bed with a hunter, everyone made mistakes after all and Lain himself made plenty. The flirtatious tone of her voice caught him off guard, it was so unexpected.  Reflexively he glanced over his shoulder expecting to see someone else standing behind him, because this type of attention was never aimed at him.  Either hated or ignored, that’s how he skirted along the edge of society. “Well, I can think of plenty of things you could do to me as a thanks, but I’m not sure how professional you’re trying to keep this,” The lycan admitted with a nervous chuckle, meeting her gaze.  Lain stepped closer, gently taking her chin in his hand as he studied her face.  Up close like this it became obvious to Lain why so many mortals always fell for the fae. She was beautiful, in an otherworldly sort of way, alien to this realm. He let out a soft sigh, “You’re too pretty to be trying to hook up with lycans, you know that?  What if I give you fleas?”

image

...

“That would make me as petty as legends describe the fey to be,” Robin says with genuine amusement this time as she quirks her brow as if to invite the lycan to deny it. It’s a common belief, and they are not entirely wrong, for she knows herself and she knows she is petty. There is no denying it, not when she has lived long enough not to have any delusions regarding her personality. “But no, he is not an ex-boyfriend.” Ex-friend, a loved one who had betrayed her, Wade is all those things but as handsome as the lycan before her is, Robin is not one to give too much away to strangers. Not even helpful ones. Not even one with a cute little chuckle of nerves. The poor dear seems surprised, as if she would eat him up and isn’t that darling? There is no need for her to tilt her head back when he steps closer, for they are the same height, and she feels a delighted grin curl on her lips at the juxtaposition between boldness and nerves. “I am perfectly capable of separating work and pleasure, and not one to deny myself if I find someone pretty enough to catch my eye,” she tells him, smile playful and all teeth. “Now, that is my decision isn’t it?” Robin asks tilting her head in inquiry even as she keeps her eyes focused on Lain. “And if fleas were truly a concern, a bath and a cleansing spell would suffice. And there is nothing to say we cannot have fun while wet, is there?”

who? @meryasek

where? the faerie queen’s forest boundary, the fog

when? right after the thread where wade let’s robin be stabbed

Who? @meryasek

Robin had miscalculated the deepness of the wound, when she had left the clearing and Wade behind. She had thought it possible for her to reach one of the border settlements, perhaps even find a healer before it’s too late. She is proven wrong near her destination, when her legs give out under her and she collapses into a heap of flowers. A groan leaves her lips as she does, the movement pulling at the open wound and causing fresh blood to flow from it. She needs help, and quickly, lest she bleeds out and gives another soldier to the Drow Queen. Determination burns through her veins as she begins to pull herself across the ground, unwilling to give up and admit defeat. She doesn’t have to go far, she finds out, as a familiar presence enters the vicinity and relief sweeps through her. Hazy brown eyes look up to meet Meryasek’s and she gives him a bloody smile of relief.

“Mery,” she manages to gasp out throughout the blood, one hand coming to her stomach to press against the wound. “Help.”

who? @vincenzodives

where? robin’s apartment

when? the morning of the 14th, before the chaos

notes: plot drops?? don’t know them

Who? @vincenzodives

Preparing for events the mortal way is not an usual occurrence, but Robin desperately needed a quiet moment amidst the search of the missing artifacts, a break and — Perhaps she had wanted to check on Vinny, amidst all her duties. Her work as a Chancellor had lamentably made it difficult to drop by as much as she had wanted, but no one could deny her time to prepare for a royal wedding. She is applying a soft layer of eyeshadow when the door to her room opens and she senses Vinny’s presence enter the room.

“Oh, perfect! Do sit down, Vinny,” she urges as she finishes a swipe of her brush while looking at the mirror. “I need your opinion on the palette I am using, as it is rather more colorful than my usual.”

It’s a troubling situation across the board. Èdelie predicts things will likely become more gruesome as time progresses. While fairly new to all things fey, making the decision to try and destroy the crystal was the right thing to do. The plight she’s beginning to embrace is enough for her to shut down, gnawing at her lesser lip in response to Robin’s recommendation. “I don’t know,” she grumbled under her breath, agitated at the image of her engaging in conflict. “There has to be something we can do where self-defense isn’t necessary. I love… us; I love being a fey, and I’m undoubtedly hurt by what transpired, but this is too much to bear.” And it’s too much to process in such a short amount of time, pondering upon what she can do to help ease the situation. “It’s not my livelihood I have to take into consideration, it’s others I truly care about that need protecting. The question is if doing this is worth it.” Èdelie could promptly evaluation the necessary behavioral decision, imploring the risk factors of it all.

...

Edeliexii:

“I am afraid that it might be impossible to remain in the sidelines,” the words are delivered grimly, lips pressed together into a tight smile as her eyes wander away from the young eladrin. Words form and reform on her mind as the tries to encapsulate the true weight of what they are confronting without scaring the poor dear. Life has never been a fairy tale, and she knows Èdelie is aware of the fact. Robin doesn’t know, however, how well she understands the events on the horizon. Most mortals do not, and she was a mortal a mere months ago. It is heartwarming to see her resolve to help others, her resolve to protect and yet. “Unfortunately dear, it is our livelihood that you should take into consideration. Rome is besieged by enemies, yes, and everyone is at risk, but as an eladrin you are doubly so. Our kind is being hunted as we speak, and while we are setting up our own hunting party to counterattack this, that does not take away the risk for us. “

There is no sign of nervousness as she speaks, even though she would very much like to fidget. Instead, she tilts her head in consideration.

“And truly, Èdelie, we are at the precipice of war with multiple parties, I would dare to say that we are not doing enough, rather than we are doing too much,” the words are grim, but she cannot deny the truth to the young fey,  not when she is struggling to make a vital choice. “So to answer your question, the answer is yes. It is worth it.”

When he stumbles, seemingly collapses unto himself and leaves it doesn’t surprise her, but it does shatter what is left of the faith she held for her once-favorite hunter. It is such a small thing that does it, the way he hesitates, the way he almost reaches back, the way he almost seems sorry — But despite it all, despite the hesitation, despite the countless times she had saved him, he leaves. He heeds her warning and weighs his life against hers, and decides his is worth more, every time. Faith is such a funny sentiment, capable of withstanding the worst of storms and shattering at a single look. Robin had believed in Wade, had believed that he saw her as more than the means to an end, more than a convenient relationship to use and then discard.

She had believed them friends, had given him the gift of her friendship and loyalty when she rarely bestowed it to any human, and he had repaid her with the same sort of fire and brimstone the demon he so fears had offered him. It would be ironic if it wasn’t so fucking infuriating.

“With friends like these, who needs enemies,” she mumbles, coughs out through the pain, blood staining the back of her teeth as she looks at the hunters that had remained and smiles like a predator, for what are they but New Rome’s guardian’s prey? She feels them coming as she levels a look at the hunters before her, knows that their judgment day is closer than they would like and the mean-spirited part of her relishes at this information. There might be a sense of unique understanding and empathy for humanity that Robin holds on her chest, but she is not less of a fey because of it. They are a fickle capricious sort, her people, and she has never been shy about her determination to see the Eye burn. Wade has confirmed her suspicions, and she has granted him one last kindness.

Next time, the one bleeding for his mistakes will be him.

She has no need to retaliate against the hunters that remain, though, not when she only has to look to the side to see a changeling emerging from the fog to deliver their fate to them. Instead, she focuses on her song to slow down the blood flow enough to stand up and hobble deeper into the forest. The blade had been iron and properly cured, not impossible to heal but something she would feel much more confident healing with someone else present. Carefully, she limps away from the clearing where the curtain of her friendship with Wade had fallen, leaving behind nothing but a pool of blood and hoping that she will find someone to join her in a healing song sooner rather than later.

Thegoodfellow:

Hours had passed since Wade had been given the leverage to abandon Robin to her fate. The fey had built a new community to themselves to be salvaged from Rome’s watchful eye and Wade had destroyed that for Robin, inadvertently. He’d had never wished for something like this to transpire, but it seemed his affiliation with the Eye would only force it to be an inevitable. A choice he would have to make no matter the friendship sprouted with the autumnal fey; a choice had to be made or Wade’s personal vendetta would be lost to connections severed. The Eye was a necessary evil to him a means to a fateful end that was vital to him. He was just a mere and measly human, supplemented with natural brawn, but he was human and even brute musculature could not protect him from the evils that awaited him in the night. The Eye allowed him safe passage as his itinerary was customized with necessary tools to defeat said evils. He had made a choice and though it seemed important in the moment, it still felt wrong as he agonized any way to see that Robin had escaped.

He’s unsure of why he’s still allowed access through the fog, expects it to claim him forever but Wade finds his way through to the scene of trauma. Blood is spattered on the ground and he’s certain it has to be Robin’s considering the fatal amount and his stomach churns at the reminder. She’s nowhere to be seen and he tries to find a sliver of positivity in such factor but feels queasy as the metallic scent of blood pervades his senses. There’s this screech that’s chilling, it resounds like a bestial creature that certainly has to be a changeling. He can’t stay not unless he’d like to repay his betrayal with his own life and so Wade crosses the threshold out of New Rome once more certain that he’ll never be allowed to return again.

END.
