Ironic That This Would Please The Emperor More Than Worshiping Him Would.

Ironic that this would please the Emperor more than worshiping him would.

My character, Sister Catherine, of the order of the Valorous Heart. Or simply Cate to those who know her.

She needs an origin story.

A crisis of faith. She prays for guidance to Him on Earth. Surely he would not abandon one of His faithful in their hour of need?

She knelt in the chapel of the blessed Emperor. It was a place of calm and contemplation. Sisters came here to pray. But she was here now out of desperation. She needed Him to answer her, now more than at any time in her life.

"Holy Emperor, hear my prayer. I need your guidance. I have doubt. This has plagued me for months, years even. Please, help me. Guide me. Show me the path forward."

Her head was bowed, her hands clasped tightly together, praying, and hoping for a miracle. Something to relieve her of the doubt and the anguish she felt because of it. But she was only met with the silence of the empty chapel.

"You're not going to answer me, are you?" She said out loud.

She opened her tear stained eyes and looked up at the altar.

"You're not here, are you? You're on Terra, sitting on your golden throne."

She stared at the stained glass depiction of the Emperor. Magnificent in his golden armour, surrounded by the faithful, a halo of light above his head.

"You are not a god."

She half expected to be struck down there and then. Some bolt of unimaginable power incinerating her on the spot.

"The books my family died for, they were right. You are not a god. Written in your own hand, that is what my grandmother said. The inquisition killed them, burnt at the stake as heretics.."

She was only a child, but she remembered the fires. Her mother and grandmother were consumed by the flames. The inquisitor forced her to watch. A lesson, he had said.

"It is a lie. I have lived this lie my whole life. In the schola progenium, in my order. I have prayed to you, sang praises in your name. And I have killed, all in your name. How much blood must stain my hands because of you."

She cleansed her hands each day as instructed by scripture. Clean, pristine even. If she could see the blood, she imagined it would be of the deepest, darkest, red.

"And I am damned. For what can I do? If I confess my lack of faith, they will force me to be repentia, beating myself bloody until I see the light once again. Or worse. Locked in a machine and driven insane."

She had seen the penitent engines in battle. Wild, savage things. Their pilots lost to madness.

"If I run, the inquisition will hunt me. They will likely send my own sisters after me. There is no mercy for the heretic. Isn't that what you teach?"

She knew the tortures an inquisitor could inflict first hand. Both physical and mental. She would not let that be her fate.

"Must I die for you then? Is that my only choice? Or turn to the foulness of the warp. Must that be my salvation? What vile corruption would I have to endure."

She thought about the chaos tainted cultists she had fought in the past. Barely recognisable as even human anymore. Chanting dirges to their dark gods.

"No. I would rather turn my bolt gun on myself. If you are not a god, then neither are they. The creatures of the warp will not have me. I deny them. As I deny you."

The blasphemy she spoke. She would have killed someone outright if they had spoken like this to her. Now she speaks it herself. In his own chapel, no less.

"We go to war soon. Another crusade in your name. Do you know why? Do you even care?"

In the battles ahead, how many were going to die? How many deaths would she be responsible for? All for a lie. Maybe being condemned to a penitent engine would be a blessing. They at least did not struggle with faith.

"I still have my sisters. I depend on them, as they depend on me. They will be my faith from now on, my shield. I will fight for them."

She stood. She would have to lie to her sisters and convince them her faith is strong and beyond question. What choice did she have?

The Emperor is not a god.

A simple statement, yet so powerful it could condemn an entire world. What could it do to one sister of battle?

Someone else wrote it? You can do it better. Maybe not from everyone's point of view, but definitely someone's, probably yours.

fanfic writing culture isn’t “oh dang! I wanted to write about this prompt with this character but someone else already wrote it, so now I can’t”.

fanfic writing culture is always “two cakes is better than one. the more the merrier. there can ever be enough fics of this character with this prompt!”

I follow the Astartes Anonymous theory for Perturabo: what do you *think* he made the Iron Circle for if not to be his supporting environment when he wants to be soft?

Which primarch dolly would be best at taking cock? And I don’t mean fake crying from pleasure like some sex dolls have, but which butthole would be the most slick and accadanting to it’s grith and size? Or: You think like with how imperial fists are all about enduring pain, would Dorn be that type of guy to pretend sexualy as a statue while partner electroduces them and call him his huge brave little dolly?

Hmmmm, very good questions all around. First of all, I must say; I don’t think EVERY primarch would be a doll. Some of them would be dollmakers, and some of them would have no interest in dollification whatsoever.

IMO the list is as follows:

Lion: Doll, only for Sanguinius, reluctant at first but then feels how lovely it is to have his angel fuss over tying his hair back with a ribbon and call him a beautiful doll. Then he’s smitten with the concept. Gets dressed in fancy Caliban court attire and imperial dress uniform, because he’s a little figurine of a knight. Doesn’t get penetrated, but Sanguinius will jack or suck him off at the end of doll time if he behaves.

2: turns out they were a recast knockoff :/

Fulgrim: Doll OR Dollmaker. Partial to the ball jointed doll, EGL kind of look; fluffy petticoats and lace and ruffles abound, big sweet eyes, pink cheeks and lips. Will be a dollmaker for anyone curious, just to help them try it out, and is secretly holding out hope that Konrad will agree to it one day; he has such perfect pale skin, and big dark eyes, and long dark hair, he’d be the perfect doll. Fulgrim gets penetrated by his own dollmaker, easily and eagerly - his cunt is soaked by the time he’s fully dressed, he enjoys it so much, and from there it’s just a matter of pushing his petticoats up.

Perturabo: Neither, but not for lack of trying. He gets too impatient and uncomfortable to be a doll and too frustrated being a dollmaker. He’s asked Fulgrim a few times if he can have a go at him while he’s still in doll headspace though.

Jaghatai: skip I don’t know enough about him

Leman Russ: this guy’s into prey/pred and puppy play, not dolls

Dorn: Yeah kind of exactly what you said, honestly

Konrad: HE WOULD BE SUCH A GOOD DOLL I KNOW HE WOULD. Unfortunately. The everything else about him. Keep asking, Fulgrim, you’ll get him one day. Wouldn’t like penetration, but would like grinding with another doll while their maker watches.

Sanguinius: Dollmaker!! More of a masculine focus with his dolls, dressing them up like decorated generals in parade uniform or fairytale princes. Pretty enough to be a doll himself, but it feels too much like worship to him, and he doesn’t like being worshipped

Ferrus: Another dollmaker! For Fulgrim this time. He doesn’t like an awful lot of frill and decadence in his own life, but when it comes to making sure the ruffles and petticoats sit perfectly on his doll? He’ll be laser-focused on lace. Adores putting on the finishing touches; hair ornaments, jewelry, gently sliding and buckling shoes on. Having Fulgrim so malleable in his grasp just makes him bend his dolly over and fuck him full as soon as he’s dressed.

11: concept for a playline fashion doll that never got past prototyping :(

Angron: DO NOT

Roboute: Another smart-suited fairytale prince doll for Sanguinius! Doesn’t get penetrated, but adores giving oral - tell him he’s even prettier on his knees and he’ll whine

Mortarion: Stinky. Do not attempt

Magnus: He’ll try anything once! Prefers the clothing worn by the wealthy on Prospero for dolls - light, gauzy linen skirts dyed beautiful colours, jewelry dripping with precious metals and semi-precious stones, intricate sandals, maybe even a beaded net over the hair. It’s about the process, to him, not fitting the criteria of what a doll ‘should’ look like. Prefers to penetrate, regardless of if he’s doll or maker

Horus: Simply does not ‘get it’. Likes kinky sex! Just doesn’t click with this kind

Lorgar: Nah. Religion kink, maybe virginity kink, but not dollification

Vulkan: I don’t think he’d be a dollmaker, but he does strike me as the sort to want to play with a doll. Maybe he can work out an arrangement with one of the makers

Corvus: Dolly in denial. Get Corvus a pretty little gothic lolita dress and a black petticoat and cute little mary-jane style shoes and that’s it. The point of no return. Corvus would also be such a beautiful doll, with the pale skin and dark eyes and hair.

Alpharius(? Omegon??): Who. Fucking knows

There is a good chance that the skeleton in that picture is actually dead. The Imperium worships the "human form", and the skeleton is the most bare-bones representation of that form, hence why you see skeletons on a whole lot of shit in 40k (relic storm shields, for example). You can see another example of this where some Necrons were analyzing an Aquilla that was on a planet they conquered, and they found bone fragments mixed in with the metal (they thought they were impurities).

Some more fun 40k facts for Rogue Trader mutuals!

The average human lifespan in Warhammer 40k is roughly the same as it is right now. However, the wealthy people, those who are well-connected, and important/high ranking military officers have access to rejuvenation technology and augmentations that massively extend a person's life. The wealthiest people can live for centuries. As a Rogue Trader, your character will be 100% pressured to undergo these treatments for the stability of the region. Theodora is well over 300 years old at the start of the game.

The first Rogue Traders, those who were personally granted warrants of trade by the Emperor himself, were actually people he did not want around. They were people too wealthy/popular/inconvenient to kill, but people he did not want close to him as he built the foundations of the Imperium. For him, this was a win-win situation. If they did what they were told, they would go into unknown corners of the galaxy and bring them into the Emperor's fold. Or they died trying. Worst case scenario, they got corrupted (or at least power-hungry) and turned on the Emperor while in deep space, which game him perfect justification to kill them.

There have been other warrants of trade signed by Primarchs and other extremely important people for more practical reasons. But the original warrants signed by the Emperor were, as many things concerning the Emperor, kind of a shitty thing to do.

A lot of 40k's lore borrows heavily (steals) from Dune. Including a total ban on artificial intelligence and machines that do any complicated calculations. (it's not just illegal, it's heretical) Cogitators look like computers as we understand them, but their actual processors are often human brains. Servitors who have had their bodies mutilated even more than usual, their brain functions brute-forced programmed to do nothing but function as a computer.

Remember this skeleton on the main menu screen? That's a person, not a spooky decoration. (the Imperium is SUPER evil)

Some More Fun 40k Facts For Rogue Trader Mutuals!

That being said, the Adeptus Mechanicus totally break this rule all the time.

But this rule isn't just because the Imperium is evil. Daemons can, and have, possessed machines of all kinds to cause countless deaths across history. Part of the reason all technology and maintenance is so heavily ritualized is because it HAS to be, in order to prevent demonic infestation. It's not just because everyone in 40k is completely ignorant of how things work.

I have things I want art of that I am a mix of unwilling and unable to pay someone else to do, so I do it myself.

Be honest, how on earth do you get into the mindset of doing art for fun and self-expression instead of doing art that you think others will like to make money
