A quick summary of what’s happening in DC: Congress was supposed to certify the US Presidential Election today, but a pro-Trump mob protesting the results have forced their way into the Capitol building, and are attempting a coup. This is following weeks of Trump telling his supporters to not accept election results.

I’ve been following the PBS News Hour livefeed here, and NYTimes’ live chat analysis.

This looks an awful lot like the police letting Trump supporters through the barrier.

I’m not really sure what to say about this.

In case it has to be made clear, the people invading the Capitol are terrorists. Plain and simple. Media needs to stop calling them protesters. They’re not. They. Are. TERRORISTS.

At the RNC, there was just a pipe bomb found. It was detonated. I’m so fucking sick of this. Acting like this isn’t that bad. IT IS THAT BAD.

This is on Trump. This is on Cruz. This is on Hawley.

I can’t help but notice that the actual armed terrorists attacking a federal building in insurrection did not get hit with rubber or real bullets, water hoses, tear gas, or chokeholds.

they are letting the conservative protesters break windows, scale walls, and blockade buildings because they RESPECT them. they aren’t scared, they would shoot if they were scared. they know these people are the ruling class still, they hold the power. they are white americans and they will get away with acting like unhinged, treasonous fools before a cop lifts a finger to harm one. they may tear gas, but they won’t shoot. they associate these people with the ones who pay their salaries whether true or not. they give more deference and respect to these redneck fascists than they do to peaceful BLM protesters any day of the week. after all, in their minds shooting at a POC is less like shooting at a human than shooting at a white person. you are seeing the juxtaposition between the militaristic responses to the blm protests and this one - white privilege served to your eyes on a silver platter.

What’s happening in the Capitol is utterly horrifying. This is not a protest, it’s a violent coup.
