seems that Chrome has around 60-65% market share, so it’s not totally dominating the market yet but it’s worrying that we’re basically reliant on Apple and Microsoft to hold the line.

cozy Japanese youtube channels~

here are some youtube channels I recommend if you want to enjoy some easy-going, chill content in Japanese ^-^

Haru ch. はる🌷 🌿 i recommend her animal crossing streams! her town is really pretty and the language she uses is quite easy to follow ^^

nao 🌿 she makes wonderfully calm and relaxing videos of her daily life. she doesn’t talk in her videos but she narrates what’s she’s doing via subtitles (if you prefer reading then you’ll enjoy this channel!)

Choki 🌿 similar to naoさん. lovely aesthetic/asmr videos following her daily life (and lots of delicious cooking!)

カフェとノート / Nakanote 🌿 stationary/study channel. i really like her narration style and note-taking tips!

in living. 🌿 one my fave youtube channels! she chats about recent purchases, moving house, morning/night routines etc. super chill and enjoyable to watch.

those are my recommendations! let me know if you end up watching any of these channels (and if you have similar recs please reply and i’ll check them out!)

As you might be aware I have big feelings about all besnouted creatures, but recently something has been grating on me. Sometimes, when people draw a snout animal, they draw the snout as a nose with the mouth as a separate entity underneath. This is a stylistic choice I greatly dislike because a snout or trunk is, by definition

A COMBINATION OF THE NOSE AND UPPER-LIP.

Three pictures of an elephant, a pig, and an aardvark. Their mouth parts have been traced in red to highlight the shape of their snouts.

You can see here that the snout is not a separate entity from the mouth in these mammals, but is a fleshy protuberance emanating from the upper jaw.

Two drawings of an anthropomorphic pig face, one with the mouth separate from the nose, another with the mouth and nose incorporated as a proper snout. Both pigs are smiling, but the second seems somehow more genuine than the first. This image is captioned "It has a warmer feel." Next given are two examples of anthropomorphic pigs, Peppa Pig, and Richard Scarry's Pig Will and Pig Won't. Peppa Pig is captioned "cold, unfeeling" and Richard Scarry's pigs are captioned "warm, compassionate."

You can see in this illustration how a more anatomically accurate snout position gives an anthropomorphic pig a degree of charm that an inaccurate snout position does not.

Snout positioning can make or break a character design for me.

Corvids have a basic grasp of the theory of mind - the ones who hide their food will remember who saw them bury it, and will come back to stash it elsewhere when they know they’re no longer watched. They are vaguely aware that others are also capable of thinking and planning, and anticipate that another bird would seize the treasure later, if ever given the opportunity.

Many corvids also mate for life. They have foods they prefer more than others, and it has been discovered that they can also know and remember their partner’s favourites, and bring those treats to each other, even if they personally don’t care for this food source.

Is that love? A crow cannot be forced to do something it does not want to do, they do as they please and it pleases them to bring gifts to their partners. What is love but joy that stems from the joy of another?

Do they know what love is? A jackdaw knows that another jackdaw it can see has seen it in return - do they know that a spouse that brings them treats does it as a treat to themselves as well?

Do these birds know what love is? Do they know that they love, and are loved in return?
