5 days after what's quickly turning out to be the worst flooding in the history of Europe, Valencia's southern towns are still fighting. Some look a bit better than others - those located closer to the city get the most help - but the deeper in you go, the worse it is. "Madness" doesn't begin to cover it: streets flooded with mud, cars piled on each other, debris mixed with debris. It's street after street, one town becomes another, local stores and businesses turned inside out. People's lives, memories and objects of daily use float next to meaningless trash. It's all the same and it's all nothing. It's a whole bunch of nothing.
As we enter the town of Benetússer - one of the first ones coming from the city after having crossed the Turia river - the things look bad but somehow clean, organized. It's a cleaning party, and everyone's invited (except for the volunteers, who were actually prohibited from coming today; the official reasoning is the weather, it's supposed to rain today, but rumours are louder on social media: the Prime Minister, the King and the Queen are coming; others say there are too many bodies for anyone to safely do anything there). But we don't care, and hundreds of others don't care, either. Armed with cleaning tools we MacGyvered at home (stores have been out for a while, and social media is full of tips for what works best for the mud), we're here to help, and as we're moving through the town, we hope to find someone who knows someone who needs us. Small groups form: some know where to go, others wander around, randomly helping people on the way. We're the latter kind, but soon enough, we meet a guy holding a small kid holding a cookie who gives us a tip: go back to the main street, continue there, and when you pass the Consum supermarket, things get tough; the less fortunate live there, the damage is bad, and the help is needed. We follow him, the kid and the cookie and we end up in a cultural centre, converted into a donation hub. It's huge and thanks to the rooms located on the first floor, it survived. It must have been a school: the weird layout, corridors, spacious rooms, the smell of adolescence and bullying and now, tens of people running around, organizing. It's a beehive and we're in the middle of it, unloading the trucks with donated food, cosmetics, cleaning supplies. Christmas candles, shoes, cookies. A blanket, tampons, milk. It all goes up, gets segregated and turned into first-care packages that then go down. An hour, two, then four pass by: volunteers come and go, neighbours come and go. It's controlled chaos, and we somehow get things done. Nothing lingers around, so we guess it's a good sign.
Tomorrow's another day. And that's good, because we'll need a lot of them.
_______ If you'd like to donate to the victims of the Valencian flooding, please consider doing it here.
Please read!!
Since October 29, Spain has been going through one of the worst flash floods of this century. The Community of Valencia has been the most affected, but the cold drop also passed through the south-west and is moving now to the north-east.
So far, 211 bodies have been found, and more than 2000 people are still missing. Most fatalities are from Valencia, entire towns are ravaged and isolated as they don't have electricity and the roads have been destroyed. A lot of people has lost their home, more than 15k homes don't have eletricity and they are in need of food, water and hygienic products
The reason Valencia was the most affected is because, despite given a warning 5 days before from the AEMET (Spain's official meteorological agency) of the possible mass floodings due to the cold drop, and the same morning of the catastrophe, it's authorities didn't warn it's people. Valencia's government waited 12h after the last warning from the AEMET (and it's president even said it would subside 2h before the floodings) before declaring the red alert, at 8pm. By then, many people was already caught in the flood while going or coming back from work.
Although politicians must be accountable, our priority is to help those in need, most which have lost their house, belongings and means to live. Because of this, here are some fundraisers and non-profits you can donate to help both people and animals that have been affected (these are from the thread I've just posted, but I'll add more if I find them!):
Horta Sud is a county in Valencia that has been the most affected by the floodings. People are leaving their houses because they're scared of the infrastructure getting damaged and even walking by foot to Valencia capital to get food.
Letur (Albacete) is a town that has been destroyed by the floods. You can help rebuild it by donating to this gofundme that's directly coordinated with the town hall.
Hambre Cero is a Spanish food bank non-profit that was founded after the earthquakes in Indonesia. They're currently active in Palestine and Lebanon but they'll also be giving food to those who need it in Spain.
El Refugio de María a dog shelter in Sueca (Valencia), is completely flooded, leaving the dogs visibly distressed and without a proper place to sleep. You can donate to their PayPal: maria.g.may@gmail.com
Protectora San Antón is a shelter for cats and dogs in Jerez de la Frontera. It's flooded and the animals don't have a comfortable place to sleep in. If you live in Spain you can bizum them @ 635011715 If not, PayPal protectorasananton@hotmail.com
Help Sara and her family rebuild their home in Valencia.
Refugio Minipow was home to 50 rabbits and guinea pigs. Thankfully, the owners were able to move all the animals to their homes and those of their neighbors, though the shelter itself has been destroyed right after recent renovations. They accept help through PayPal, Bizum or a transference to their bank account.
Una copa por Valencia ("a drink to Valencia") is a campaign organized by Spanish influencer David Aliagas. The idea behind it is to donate the amount of money you would spend on drinks on a night out. He'll be joining effort with local non-profits.
Help the people of Mira (Cuenca) rebuild their hometown.
This group of artists is giving away drawings to people who donate at least 5€ to any of the fundraisers listed in the thread!!!
You can donate to Valencia's food bank by making a transfer to this bank account: ES86 2100 2806 6402 0009 8998
Thread of artists that are accepting comissions for Valencia:
This artist has been directed by the floodings. He just opened emergency comissions
I'll add more fundraising campaigns I find on Twitter/Bluesky, but until then, please consider helping in any way you can! Even if it's just by sharing!
After the floods in Valencia, I'm participating in an initiative created by artists to offer commissions for each donation you make to one of the following initiatives
Send me a screenshot of your donation to any of the initiatives listed + the character you want and I will do a colored sketch of them!
Hey everyone, this is not the typical post, but circumstances are uncertain at the moment.
The place I live in, Valencia, has been hit with the worst natural disaster in a century and we're currently struggling with the aftermath of the floods. Better info in this post.
I'm going to be participating in the ArtistsForValencia initiative. If you donate 5 euros or more to any link in the thread above or the additional ones below, and you show proof of your donation, I'll draw your OC or any other character of your choice (sfw). I can draw mostly any nonhuman characters.
Additional donation sites I vouch for:
ONG DISEC (GoFundMe): Group of volunteers that help people during disasters, the money goes directly to affected victims.
La Llar Del Gat (Bizum 08603): Local cat rescue/rehoming shelter, they're low on food and other resources destroyed by the flood.
Modepran (Bizum 33569): Animal rescue shelter, most of the site has been swept by the flood. They're currently taking in rescued dogs to find back their owners.
hi! some of you might not know this, but my area has been hit with some truly devastating floods. as part of an initiative over on twitter, i will be sketching any character you'd like if you inbox or dm me proof of a donation of at least 5€ to any of the campaigns linked below, as well as a reference of said character!

Translation:
"I'd like to send a message to all the families in Spain who I'm sure are going through a terrible time with everything that's happened, the images are unbelievable. It caught be between Mexico and Brazil and I've been following it as closely as possible but... It's very difficult to see and after all we all know someone from Valencia or the affected areas who are going through a very hard time. So I send them a big hug and from here, from Brazil, we'll try to give them something to be happy about."

You may have seen this on the news, but Spain has been going through flash floods since October 29, and while most of the water is gone, thousands of people are without light, any water, or food.
Towns, schools, supermarkets and houses have been destroyed, tunnels and garages are blocked by mountains of mud and cars, and dozens (if not hundreds) of people have disappeared. 210 deaths so far, and it´s expected to increase a lot in the next days.
Please, if you are able, consider donating, sending help, or reblogging this post.
Here are some official sources for donating (more links under cut):
Fundació Horta Sud Non-proffit org based on one of the most damaged areas. Have been helping the affected towns and sending food. Link
FESBAL National Food bank association. They're trying to get for and drinkable water to all damaged areas. Link
Red Cross Spanish branch of Red Cross has a special donations page to help those affected by the storm. Link
Cáritas Spanish Catholic org for social action, has a special donations part for the storm. Link
Currently most help is coming from civilian organizations who are walking for hours to bring food, water, and help the affected areas, but water is contaminated and roads closed. Authorities keep undermining the problem and companies are forcing people to go to work.

EMERGENCY COMMISSIONS FOR VALENCIA, PLEASE READ AND SHARE
Valencia has suffered the consequences of a really destructive flood, so I'll be taking commissions via Ko-fi. Just make a donation (5€ minimum), name a character you'd like me to draw, and I'll contact you asap. All the money will be donated to people from Valencia, used to buy food, water, hygiene products, etc, for the families who have lost everything.
Hello friends! 💥 A huge area of Valencia (Spain) has been devastated by the DANA storm and I'm having these Emergency Commissions to donate what I can to the relief efforts. Areas in Albacete have also been affected by one of the worst disasters in our recent history.
At the moment, over 200 victims are confirmed dead and firefighters and volunteers are still looking for thousands of missing people.
I'm offering both chibi style commissions and portraits. You can shoot me an email to emedeme.art@gmail.@com or DM if interested. Payment upfront via PayPal (or Bizum, if you live in Spain).
You can also donate to Cruz Roja and other relief efforts. There are lots of Spanish artists trying to help, look for them on the #ArtistsForValencia hashtag on several SNSs. Thank you for spreading the word!

WE ARE TRYING TO GET FUNDS TO PEOPLE THAT NEED THEM
Most of my friends don't have tumblr, so we are working mostly through Twitter, send proof of a donation of 5€ or more and a character and someone will draw them for you.
I live in Valencia and the villages of the area are devastated, all the info is in the thread of where to donate, using the #ArtistsForValencia there are other local artists doing small commisions for donations, anything helps really.
Instead of listing them one by one, I'm putting together existing lists for you to pick.
Valencia relief gofundmes.
Letur (Albacete) relief gofundmes. This town has also been quite harsly hit and it's not getting as much coverage.
#ArtistsForValencia masterpost. With a minimum of 5€ donations to any organization, you can contact the artists on this list to get a sketch of something.
The spanish branch of the Red Cross has set up several donation bank accounts as well
This twitter account has been managing to get trucks full of clean water and food to Valencia. Don't start with their profile picture, I genuinely don't care as long as they're bringing help.
Twitter thread with donation links. There's footage on the top of the thread of some people getting carried away by the water, so be warned. The link contains the first of many donation links.
Hambre cero is focused on bringing food and water to disaster zones.
desaparecidosdana on Instagram is an account to raise awareness and help locate missing people. Use this only if you're a local.
There has been a serious flood in Valencia and right now there’s shortage of basic supplies like water and food, please if you could share this or donate it would be very helpful and appreciated

There are almost 2,000 people missing and over 200 dead people.
Over 15,000 people are still without electricity or running water (like myself)
kissing whoever peter windsor is for this description of valtteri at williams:
Valtteri has the kind of very quiet, very calm approach that can withstand pressure. He’s happy to say nothing if the option is merely to make conversation; but there’s nothing vague about him, nothing boring. When Williams invited him to drive the historic 1992 FW14B at a secluded airfield, he not only turned up ahead of time but filmed the day himself for posterity: he loves his motor racing to the core. He is completely uninterested, I think, in anything remotely concerned with ‘glamour’ but he is both sophisticated and methodical in the way he goes about his life.

Is there a difference between 'classic F1' and 'vintage F1'?? If so, can anyone explain what it is??
@schumigrace @seafoampearlygirl @madscientist-physicsedition I just had to share this with you. Apparently this is what I’m supposed to be doing, as a Gen Z 😌

Valtteri...
This is most artistic I can get but I've had a go.
You have always been an amazing driver and a wonderful person to watch. Seeing your confidence and you saying how much more confident you feel in yourself, in your body to just be yourself is such a joy.
Wether you are driving, cycling or even just having fun in a lake you bring so much happiness just by being yourself. Your adventures with Tiffany, your projects and passions outside of racing. It's always so much fun to watch.
You have given us so many amazing racing moments, also some great interview moments. Championship or not, nobody can deny what a great racer you are. What a passionate person you are.
No matter what happens in the future I know it will be a positive one for you. Whatever you are doing and wherever you go, you shine brightly. I do seem to have a bit of a soft spot for finnish drivers. 😅
Happy birthday Valtteri, I hope it is as amazing as you are.
Ps:the calander last year was delightful.
