Hozier stans have the most poetic minds I’ve seen in this human race… I would like to be a part of that collective
I'm sure there is something really intelligent and so very witty to say about this album. It's so meaty, and so stunning, and you can sink your teeth into each song and be so rewarded for the second, third, tenth, millionth listen. But the one thought that I'm struck by right now is just this joy, this absolute pleasure at seeing Hozier's maturation and evolution as an artist, at witnessting him step into his talent and claim his little niche of the world with confidence. There's so much stark clarity about this album that leaves me in awe, simply glad that the man who said "we tried the world, good god, it wasn't for us" is allowing himself to be a part of the world, and in turn letting us into his own little corner of it. What a gift. What an honor
it always sends chills down my spine to rewatch the subbed version of yamiyu's reaction to losing yugi in the orichalcos arc. i know that, in the dub version, he keeps begging for yugi to come back to him and it is actually very touching, but in the sub version? it's unforgettable.
his screams are so raw, so sorrowful, so full of despair. it's a scream you hear from someone who just lost a part of their own body. the pain is so overwhelming you can hear it in his voice. as if someone is sawing his flesh without anesthesia. i know this comparation sounds funny, but its the one that suits the best for me. so much pain in his soul it becomes physical. and, as he himself said, he "lost something more important than" his own soul.
so imagine being this hurt. imagine wanting to give your mf soul away in exchange for someones freedom, even if you know your soul is the only thing left of you. so, to get yugi back, he was not only ready to give everything he had, but everything he was - everything he WAS, which, to me, is much more intense than giving what you have, because, if you lose all your possessions, it's gonna be hard, but maybe you can still find a way to regain what was lost. but you're still alive in the end. fuck, even if you lose a part of your body, which is something you have, you can live a normal life. but without your soul? you're dead, that's it. there's nothing else keeping you alive.
and that's why this is one of my favorite puzzle moments. you would never see yami reacting that way to losing any-fucking-one. even when he is sad, he keeps his shit together, he doesn't cry or show his vulnerabilities in front of other people. he is a king, he was taught how to conceal his emotions and keep the poker face to almost everything.
even when jonouchi -who is clearly one of the most important people to him- died, he kept a somber look on his face. you can tell he is mourning his friend, but you can't see his eyes, you don't know what he is thinking. he is clearly angry and sad, but he's still keeping his deepest emotions buried under the thickest layer of composure. he wouldn't show his weaknesses, he wouldn't let other people know he was suffering. so he was sad, but he managed to look as chill as possible.
when he really allowed himself to let his feelings out, he first got in a private place, out of everyone's eyesight.
when yugi's soul got sealed, though, he got so openly vulnerable in front of everyone, as if the pain was unbearable, uncontrollable. he, a king, so imponent and powerful, wasn't able to control his feelings, because they were overwhelming, intense, consuming. he didn't give a single fuck if he was being emotional, he was kneeling on the dirt, crying every drop of salt water out of his eyes and screaming the fuck out of his lungs.
this is why the sub version is more impactful to me. BITCH WAS SO SAD HE COULDNT EVEN FORMULATE A SINGLE PHRASE ! he could only scream and cry like an australopithecus . fuck etiquette, fuck composure, fuck communication, fuck everything. his tiny little brain wasn't working, it was plain like a chicken breast
Here is my collection so far. I think I may make a seperate blog just for anime reaction images cause of the amount of god-tier reactions in Yu-Gi-Oh DM alone.
this is all from the first 6 episodes
The problem with trying to find the perfect copy of the Pikachu face in Yu-Gi-Oh is that Yugi is ALWAYS making that face.
i definitely understand the sentiment. another thing that I noticed after making it halfway through is that the digimon and digidestined rarely, if ever, get a break.
In adventure they imply the downtime, if not explicitly show it. In 2020 there is none between ep 12-20 or smth
I personally really liked AniPoké DP but I think the problem is how far it strays from the ideas of the original Digimon which puts emphasis on character development and relationship dynamics.
Some positives for 2020 are probably the creative way they integrate new technology into the existing world building, the digidestined fight alongside their digimon instead of watching from the sidelines and the plot isn’t horrible.
There’s definitely something good about Digimon 2020 it’s just not the quality we wanted/expected.
(sorry op i really needed to rant (>n<)
Something was just pointed out to me in a Reddit topic about the Digimon Adventure reboot.
It's generally no secret by now that the reboot isn't very well liked among the Digimon fandom. With often cited reasons being the bad pacing, the lack of notable characterization on each of the reboot's versions of the original 8 DigiDestined/Chosen Children to the point where they could be seen as "sanitized" versions, too edgy, no character development, the old voice actors both English and Japanese didn't reprise their roles nor did any of the voice actors actually hired tried to sound like the originals, and just overall stale, without creativity, and just exists to be a commercial.
I went onto a Reddit topic expressing dislike towards the Digimon Adventure reboot, finding some of the same sentiment there.
And in that topic, I had made a comment where I had pretty much noted that I remembered hearing that someone from the AniPoké XY staff had worked on it. I was responded to that comment by someone who said that the someone in question is the lead writer for AniPoké XY. In other words, Atsuhiro Tomioka. Looked it up to confirm just minutes ago as of writing this.
And yes. It's THAT Atsuhiro Tomioka.
The guy who was on the writing team for AniPoké ever since the Indigo League days, and had managed to become the lead writer from Diamond and Pearl to XY.
My thoughts in regards to hearing this pretty much amounted to "no wonder why the Digimon Adventure reboot sucked! Toei brought that hack into their showrunning staff!" However, none of the people I interacted with on that topic so far seem to be aware of how much of a hack he is.
Now, I will admit. This doesn't necessarily prove anything about some personal thoughts I've had regarding the portrayals of certain characters, particularly the portrayals of certain characters in AniPoké (an example being a certain French girl, also Ash during the DP and XY eras), and how any other character given similar if not identical portrayals would be pretty much hated in fandoms outside of the AniPoké fandom. But it does help substantiate those same thoughts. At any rate, I kinda find the sheer dissonance between the fandoms of the properties Tomioka had a hand in interesting and at the same time concerning. Especially since the AniPoké fandom, particularly the periphery audience, loves Tomioka's work, while the Digimon fandom, also that franchise's periphery audience in particular, hates it. If only there was a cut and dry reason for that dissonance. Maybe I'll never know that reason. Who can tell at this point?
holy fuck I’m so glad I’m not the only one, I’m already prepping for a concert I have this summer ajdjdjfj
you know when you think someone is mad at you but they dont say it outright?
and you also have trouble with nonverbal language so you think it’s just your anxiety and rejection sensitivity?
but you’re right? and they’ve actually hated you the whole time?
Be like me, be straight up. Use your damn words (constructively)
in the next game he’s gonna be hovering menacingly above the ground
no way. he finally reached the top after 5 years
Just a warning about writing commissions- (i think it’s best to edit it as writing requests)

Yo dude, I really really appreciate this, honest to gosh I didn't know half of any of this. I don't know how else to ask for writing suggestions but I'm doing this for free.
“I can’t be a trans man on the internet” go the fuck outside then dude. Signed a trans woman who has had enough of your bullshit posts
I’m gonna use this ask to make a point.
Trans guys if you get an anon claiming to be a trans women that says rude/bigoted shit, don’t believe them. Transphobes have admitted to pretending to be trans women and sending bigoted asks to trans men.
If you get an anon ask saying weird shit claiming to be from a trans women - always remember anons can lie about who they are! 9 times out of 10 it’s just some cis person lying to paint trans women as evil bigots.
And everytime I see a trans man fall for the bait and start saying transmisogynistic shit I just sigh.
