This challenge is the perfect opportunity to achieve that! Pick a skill and see how much you can improve and grow in 30 days – or really start working on your to-read list (I know those books have been piling up), your portfolio for that dream job in Illustration you want, or your blog you’ve been meaning to post more original content on.

Self-growth and development are so, so important, which is the main reason why I created this challenge.

The idea of this challenge is that people from all communities come together to gain knowledge, add skills and just have fun with the amazing amount of resources out there. This way, we can all support and motivate each other, whatever field you might be interested in.

Post an introduction with the hashtag #30dol with your goals and expectations for the month (starting June 1st), and what your current level is. (Of course, you can join in later as well, but it’s fun to start a the same time!) In the end, you’ll be able to compare and see how much has changed!

design/illustration ( stickers and illustration, character illustration, Ink Illustration, 45 best adobe illustrator tutorials, 

business/freelance/open your own shop (tips on how to open your own sticker shop, digital skills: web analytics and marketing)

languages (apps like lingodeer, duolingo, lingvist, busuu, blogs like @lovelybluepanda. there are also so many pdfs and amazing websites out there depending on your target language!)

online mass education courses (edx, coursera, skillshare, futurelearn where universities and professionals teach you about their subject - be that astronomy, engineering, ancient greek history, artificial intelligence or medicine!)

social media (learn to take iphone photos for your tumblr or instagram, and here’s a great post by @studyquill on how to start and maintain a studyblr!)

photography (travel street photography, find photographers you admire like annie leibovitz or henri cartier bresson and read about their path, or browse youtube channels like negative feedback which specialize on photography)

creative writing (there are tons of workshops online - you could also try to set yourself a piece or word limit similar to nanowrimo) 

culinary (check recipe websites, or challenge yourself to try one new recipe a day, or dedicate the month to a specific cuisine)

music (learn music production, andrew huang has also made a video on how to start making music here)

film and filmmaking (karsten runquist’s channel is wonderful for film analysis,  learn about cinematography basics here and film history here)

painting (acrylic painting, sketchbook illustration. you could challenge yourself to fill an entire sketchbook/create a piece every day or week, or to improve a specific technique) 

Every resource linked is free (if you click on the links you can get Skillshare for free for two months and cancel anytime), so all you need is some free time and lots of motivation!!

I’m very happy to be announcing this to you all, and will be working on my Japanese for this challenge – so excited to see what you all and I will do and how far we can come!

A/N: So this is just a little something I came up with based on a headcanon I found somewhere in the depths of tumblr-I hope you enjoy my first Harry Potter/Narnia AU! If this inspired any further HP AU prompts, please don’t hesitate on sending them in, because I am absolute Harry Potter trash.

“Shit.”

You cursed under your breath, dropping your arm in defeat. You sighed. It seemed as if, no matter how many times you tried, the concept of conjuring a patronus was impossible.

“Having trouble?” A voice asked in amusement.

You turned to the doorway of the empty Transfiguration classroom, rolling your eyes at the smirking form of Edmund Pevensie.

“What, Pevensie?” You groaned, turning back to the wall where you had been practicing. 

Edmund shrugged, leaning into the tall bookshelf by the doorframe.

“Well, to begin with,” He said smugly, straightening up and taking a step towards where you stood, “If I were you, I wouldn’t hold my wand like that.”

You scoffed, turning around abruptly to face him. “And how exactly am I holding my wand?”

Edmund rolled his eyes playfully, grabbing you lightly by the waist and turning you around. You let out a small noise in protest.

“Okay, first, improve your posture. Put your shoulders back, yeah?”

You narrowed your eyes. What was he playing at?

Reluctantly, you did as he suggested.

“Good.” Edmund said simply, slowly removing his hands from your waist and stepping backwards. “Now, raise your wand.”

You rolled your eyes, turning around to give him an irritated look. “Oh, really?” You said, your tone filled with sarcasm. Edmund just smirked, adjusting his collar.

Slowly, you lifted your wand, turning back around as you did. You held it out at arms-length, focusing your gaze on the wall before you and taking in every detail of the cluttered surrounding shelves and small desks.

“Alright,” Edmund began from behind you, “Now focus.”

“What?”

“Just…”

You could feel Edmund approaching you, his footsteps causing the wood floor to creak. You felt his warm breath against your neck as he raised his hand to place it over yours. You stabilized your grip on your wand, tilting it slightly.

“Alright, now…focus.”

Suddenly, all at once, you knew what he meant.

You felt the rush of energy inside you, building up as you raised your wand-Edmund’s hand still on yours.

“Expecto Patronum!” You cried, feeling every ounce of power within you surging through your veins and rushing to the tip of your wand.

A small, wispy blue figure appeared before your eyes, growing in size as the color became deeper and the shape became clearer.

“Merlin’s beard!” Edmund exclaimed from behind you. He immediately let go of your hand, doubling over to burst into laughter.

A round, flimsy nose was expanding from your wand, attached to what looked like the body of an oversized beetle with fur.

“Is that-“

“An Aardvark?” Edmund finished, coughing through his grunts of laughter.

You giggled, shaking your head in mild exasperation as you raised your wand further.

“I mean, it’s actually kinda cute.” You said thoughtfully, carefully gliding it along with your wand. The figure danced in the air, its abnormally long snout wrinkling with every movement.

Edmund bit his lip, clearly trying not to laugh again. “I mean, uh-” Edmund let out a small noise of amusement, but quickly covered it with a cough. “At least you know you have the ability to conjure a patronus, right?”

He paused, trying to think of anything else remotely positive to add to his statement. “And um, it’s not terrible looking from certain angles.”

You sighed with a slight tone of amusement, turning abruptly and abandoning your patronus.

 “Shut up Pevensie.”

And with that, you leaned in.

That certainly shut him up.

You remembered the day you signed the papers for your new house, just last week. The widow, a recent widow with two young kids at that, had told you that the house was special but there were just too many ghosts there. You had nodded, assuming she had meant that everywhere she turned she was seeing her late husband there. You hadn’t thought she meant it literally. 

The master bathroom shower is massive, one of the key features that had made you choose this one over the five others you had toured. In a great neighborhood and spacious with plenty of upgrades to the house, at the late husband’s insistence, it is perfect for your solitary life of writing. You groan under the hot water, steam curling around you in the space and let the water work it’s magic on muscles that are sore from moving and setting up boxes.

A sudden shiver runs down your spine before you are spun around. Screaming and flailing, you don’t feel or see anyone but your body is slammed against the tile and you feel the pressure of a hand around your throat. “I- help!” You choke out, scrambling and if it weren’t for whatever force that was holding you to the wall, you would have slipped and fallen in the bottom of the shower. “Help!”
