One of the smoothest, most beautiful color changes I’ve ever seen.

The reaction is methoxymethyl deprotection of one of my agonists with concentrated HCl in acetonitrile as my solvent. The color change doesn’t happen in THF!

Materials: 1. A wooden skewer 2. A clothespin 3. 1 cup of water 4. 2-3 cups of sugar 5. A tall narrow glass

Steps: 1. First, clip the skewer into the clothespin so that it hangs down inside the glass and is 1 in from the bottom of the glass. 2. Next, remove the skewer and clothespin and put the aside. 3. Then, pour the water into a pan and boil it. 4. Next, pour ¼ cup of sugar into the boiling water and stir till it dissolves. 5. Then, keep adding more sugar, each time stirring until it dissolves. 6. Next, remove the heat and allow it to cool for 20 minutes. 7. Then, ask an adult to pour the mixture into the jar to the top. 8. Next, submerge the skewer into the glass so it is hanging straight down the miss without touching the sides. 9. Finally, put it somewhere where it would not be disturbed and wait for the sugar crystals grow over the next 3-7 days.

Lesson: When you mix water and sugar, you created a saturated mixture, which means that the water could only hold the sugar if it was very hot. As the water cools, the sugar turns into crystals on the skewer.

Materials: 1.4 soda cans 2.2 ceramic magnets 3.ruler 4. Five hex nuts 5.an empty tall drinking glass 6.adult Steps: 1.First, put two soda cans on each side at the ruler length apart. 2.next, stack the other two soda cans with one on each can. 3.then, put the ruler on top of the soda can towers and put The drinking glass between the towers. 4.next, place one magnet on the ruler and put the other magnet underneath the ruler so the magnets attached to each other. 5.then, attach the hex nuts with one of the time to the magnet underneath the ruler 6.finally, slowly detach the hex nut chain and bounce it on the edge of the glass. (Make sure the edge is directly below the magnet) Lesson: The magnets are causing the hex nuts to attract each other, and, thus, the hex nuts create their own magnetic field. When you detach the hex nuts from the magnet, there magnetic field is weaker.

Salt Strings

I’m super here for magic and science meeting together in the best ways. I got this idea from a children’s science experiments book. Add a little bit of magic into the mix, and you’ve got a fantastic ward!

Salt Strings

What you Need

Salt (epsom or sea salt seems to work best)

Gem water

String (I used jute twine)

Two cups

Something to heat water with

That’s it. It’s a super easy and super powerful ward, but it does take some time.

So what you need to do is create a super saturated salt solution. You’ll want to make a gem water that aligns with your intent. I used obsidian and black tourmaline to make my gem water (and I may have tossed a rose quartz in there too because I used that for everything).

Once your gem water is ready, you’ll want to heat it up, either in the microwave in a microwave safe bowl or on the stove. In order to make a super saturated solution, you need A LOT of salt. Keep dissolving the salt in the water until it won’t dissolve anymore. (This is why the heat is necessary. Salt dissolves quicker.) Keep pouring and dissolving salt until salt grains remain even with heat and stirring. I also recommend stirring clockwise in order to give it a little extra oomph.

When you have your solution, pour it into two separate glasses or cups. Get a length of string and place each end in the cups of salt water. Set the cups with the string between them somewhere it won’t be disturbed. (I set mine on the windowsill because easy access and hey, charged with sunlight and moonlight!)

It will take a few days, but slowly the salt solution will start to creep over the edge and along the string. When the water is gone/the string has grown salt crystals along it, take it out and place it somewhere in your room/house. I’d recommend by a door or window so that it keeps evil from entering.

You can also use this method with a paperclip, and grow salt crystals on a paperclip or pencil or any mundane item. You just need the solution and something to hang in the water. (You’d only need one cup for that!)

Be careful if you choose to add any sort of color or herbs to the solution. It is chemistry, so I’d mostly just recommend using salt and water. Adding other things to the water may impact the growth of the salt crystals.

I’ve also found that the leftover salt is an excellent cleansing agent. Add some to your bath/shower or even food (if you’re using some sort of sea salt/table salt/kosher salt). I rubbed a little bit on my third eye when I was having some psychic problems, and it definitely cleansed it out and protected it. I highly recommend using any leftover salt not on the string as a cleansing agent in any of your spells. It seems to be pretty a pretty potent protective agent. Salt is already potent in warding, and coupled with gem water it’s a pretty powerful ward.

Hope this helps! If you use this, let me know how it goes for you!

funscienceexperiments - Fun and Easy Science Experiments For Kids
Fun and Easy Science Experiments For Kids

Hi everyone! I'm Ashley P. and I'm a Girl Scout who wants to make a difference in the world. Currently, I've been working on my Gold Award Project, which is a project where Girl Scouts solve an issue in their community to earn the Gold Award. The Gold Award is the highest award a Girl Scout can achieve. In my project, I'm addressing the issue on how there are a lack of women in the STEM field by creating a program to do fun science experiments with younger girls. Also, I constructed this blog for parents and children to do exciting and simple experiments with their kids to spark a passion in this subject like what happened to me as a child. I hope you enjoy and try to accomplish the experiments I post! Also, please have adult supervision while completing these experiments.
