Salt Strings

I’m super here for magic and science meeting together in the best ways. I got this idea from a children’s science experiments book. Add a little bit of magic into the mix, and you’ve got a fantastic ward!

What you Need

Salt (epsom or sea salt seems to work best)

Gem water

String (I used jute twine)

Two cups

Something to heat water with

That’s it. It’s a super easy and super powerful ward, but it does take some time.

So what you need to do is create a super saturated salt solution. You’ll want to make a gem water that aligns with your intent. I used obsidian and black tourmaline to make my gem water (and I may have tossed a rose quartz in there too because I used that for everything). 

Once your gem water is ready, you’ll want to heat it up, either in the microwave in a microwave safe bowl or on the stove. In order to make a super saturated solution, you need A LOT of salt. Keep dissolving the salt in the water until it won’t dissolve anymore. (This is why the heat is necessary. Salt dissolves quicker.) Keep pouring and dissolving salt until salt grains remain even with heat and stirring. I also recommend stirring clockwise in order to give it a little extra oomph. 

When you have your solution, pour it into two separate glasses or cups. Get a length of string and place each end in the cups of salt water. Set the cups with the string between them somewhere it won’t be disturbed. (I set mine on the windowsill because easy access and hey, charged with sunlight and moonlight!) 

It will take a few days, but slowly the salt solution will start to creep over the edge and along the string. When the water is gone/the string has grown salt crystals along it, take it out and place it somewhere in your room/house. I’d recommend by a door or window so that it keeps evil from entering. 

You can also use this method with a paperclip, and grow salt crystals on a paperclip or pencil or any mundane item. You just need the solution and something to hang in the water. (You’d only need one cup for that!) 

Be careful if you choose to add any sort of color or herbs to the solution. It is chemistry, so I’d mostly just recommend using salt and water. Adding other things to the water may impact the growth of the salt crystals.

I’ve also found that the leftover salt is an excellent cleansing agent. Add some to your bath/shower or even food (if you’re using some sort of sea salt/table salt/kosher salt). I rubbed a little bit on my third eye when I was having some psychic problems, and it definitely cleansed it out and protected it. I highly recommend using any leftover salt not on the string as a cleansing agent in any of your spells. It seems to be pretty a pretty potent protective agent. Salt is already potent in warding, and coupled with gem water it’s a pretty powerful ward.

Materials: 1. A plastic comb 2. A narrow stream of water from a tap. 3. Dry hair Steps: 1. First, turn on the water. 2. Next, run the comb through your hair about 10 times. 3. Then, slowly move the comb towards the stream of water without touching it 4. Finally, you will notice how the water bends because of static electricity. Lesson: When you comb your hair, electrons, negativity charged particles, jump from your hair to the comb, and, thus, makes the comb negatively charged. Since water has both positive and negative charged particles, it is neutral. The positive and negative charges are attracted to each other when you move the negatively charged comb towards the stream, which results in the attraction of the water's positive charged particles creating the water to bend.

Density experiment. Salt water has a higher density than fresh water, causing the egg to float in it! 

Golden or White Zebra

Zoe is one of the rarest zebras in exsistance. She is what is called a Golden Zebra, although some refer to her as a “white” zebra. Zoe is the only Golden Zebra known to be in captivity at this time. Zoe was born on the Island of Molokai, Hawaii in 1998 and shortly after her and her mother, Oreo, were moved to the Three Ring Ranch, which is an animal sancturary on the Big Island of Hawaii. Weekend Project: Do Osmosis with Food

Osmosis is the movement of water across semi-permeable membrane. Experiment with eggs to demonstrate the process of water transport into and out of cells. Get started here!

Materials: 1. 3 white carnations 2. Scissors 3. Food coloring 4. 3 small cups 5. Water Steps: 1. First, get the 3 small cups and add 3/4 of the cup with water. 2. Next, in each cup at 8 drops of food coloring of your choice. (Make sure to pour different colors for in each cup to create more multi colorful flowers) 3. Then, snip the last centimeter of the carnations' stem and place each flower in the colored water. 4. Finally, wait for 2-4 days to see the results. Lesson: Transpiration is when plants draw water up through its stem, and , thus, the water evaporates from the leaves' stomata. As the water evaporates, it creates pressure that brings more water into the plant. Since the water had color, it made the flowers become that color.
