Environmental impact aside, the practice of permanent corpse preservation is bad because the former practice it replaced whereby burial was just a temporary measure to let you rot without stinking up the place, and once the worms had finished eating your flesh they’d dig you up and use your bones to decorate an ossuary is objectively metal as fuck. Listen my dudes Ancient Egypt existed for a really fuckass long time. Literally just Pharaonic civilization lasted 3,000 years. That’s not even including predynastic civilization and Roman rule. TWO-THIRDS OF ANCIENT EGYPTIAN PHARAONIC CIVILIZATION HAVE HAPPENED SINCE THE ‘BIRTH OF JESUS CHRIST’ We comparatively just entered the Third Intermediate Period. The Greeks will not take over for another 700~ years. Cleopatra will not be born until the year 2931.
