Naturist Community Standards

A Supreme Court justice talking about pornography once said “I can’t define it but I know it when I see it.” Maybe it I time that we who do not view the naked human body as automatically sexual or pornographic set out some standards of what we consider inappropriate as examples of our lifestyle and therefore potentially pornographic. Anything not mentioned on the following list should be acceptable as SFW within a society that truly valued the human being whether clothed or 100% natural with no artificial additives: No intentional touching of genitals, either your own or another person’s with any body part. An example of an exception to this rule would be a couple hugging or embracing where his penis touches her upper thigh. Note: breasts and nipples are not genitals. No caressing or sucking on your own or another persons nipple. The major exception to this is by a child under 5 years of age nursing on a breast as nature intended. Another exception is the use of a hand or arm to hide the nipples to pass other, more strict, community standards. No “crotch forward” photos where the face is obscured or secondary to the genitalia or anus. As naturists we are not embarrassed by these body parts but prefer our images to be of the entire person, not just a bunch of parts. No crotch only shots. Or breast only, unless part of a panel of images showing the variety of “normal” breasts, penises, or vaginas that exist, or a combination of the 4 body parts that most people feel should be censored. In panels of that sort there should be textual content as well, to clarify the way in which the accompanying images should be viewed. No images of people who are not aware that they are the subject of a photograph, especially when the person is recognizable. When someone is wearing only a smile we should all be able to see and appreciate that smile. An exception can be made for people facing away from the camera or actively participation in a sport with other naked individuals. All photos should appear as if the main subjects are aware and willing participants in the photograph. No headless bodies or obscured faces. If someone is happy to be naked in public but does not wish to be recognizable on the internet, to the world at large, then their pictures should be kept private and not shared. Any naturist message should not show that we are ashamed of our participation. No images where a penis is obviously inserted within a vagina or anus, even if neither can be actually seen in the photo. Naturism is about non-sexual nudity, sex scenes are strictly pornographic. No images of urination, defecation, or masturbation. None of this is publicly acceptable within the naturist community. No photos of erections. Yes it happens, although rarely, and is usually ignored by naturists, but such pictures do not help further the naturist lifestyle to the general public. No images of children’s genitals. Children should either be “posed away” or their genitals obscured, not because we are ashamed but because there are many unsavory individuals in society at large that see sexuality where only innocence exists and we have no desire to further their ugly perversions. I hope this is a complete enough list but I encourage every naturist to add to it if they can think of anything else that should be included. Please re-post this where ever it can be seen by the majority of naturists and non-naturists alike. Maybe someone at Tumblr, YouTube, Twitter, or any other social network will see it and realize that it can be a guide to removing pornography without effecting the naturist community or those who just desire to free the nipple and give women the same rights that men have.
