*After Aemond comes back from Storms End*
Larys: You know, I, too, once killed a family member… or two
Aemond: What-

*Young Rhaenicent*
Alicent: Hey, are you okay?
Rhaenyra: Yeah, why?
Alicent: It’s just that when we were flying on Syrax you didn’t point and say “cows” when you saw them
Just saw someone call Alicent a “pick me” that still didn’t get picked.
I’m sorry this is a medieval fantasy show. She lives in a a misogynistic society. She didn’t want to be “picked”, she was just living the life that society expected of her.
Does she still have misogynistic views? Yes, but that’s because of the world that she lives in. She’s certainly not the only one with misogynistic views, but I guess it’s just easy to attack a woman instead of the system that she lives in.
As a young girl, she was forced to marry a much older man and was then raped by him (yes marital rape is still rape) and was laughed at by him, even though she did what was expected of her - having sons.
She did what she was expected of her.
Otto telling her that Rhaenyra will kill her children, is not an unreasonable assumption to make. Rhaenyra is a woman in a misogynistic society and now she has half brothers. She (Rhae) might not want to kill her brothers but she might have to + someone else from her side might take it upon themselves to kill them.
Alicent also felt betrayed by Rhaenyra and then Rhaenyra has bastard children. It’s not unreasonable to assume that Rhaenyra (or anyone supporting her claim) would get rid of any opposition to ensure her ascent to the throne and her child (Jace). Again, Rhaenyra might not want to do it, but she might have to.
Alicent wanting to protect her children is not an unreasonable thing, in the same way that Rhaenyra wanting to protect hers isn’t unreasonable either.
Alicent is not a “pick me that still didn’t get picked”, she’s a woman who lives in a highly misogynistic society that did what she thought was best for her and her children.
She never cared about being “picked”, she lived her life the way that society expected her to because she saw no other way. And she’s certainly not the first or last woman to do so.
Modern HOTD AU where Alicent tries to kill her rich husband Viserys, but every murder attempt fails in a comical way
Locks him outside the house in the middle of winter - Viserys thinks she’s just asleep and goes into his shed and goes back into loving his hobbies. After this, he’s very grateful that she was asleep which forced him to seek shelter in his shed and find his old things. He often tells this story at holidays, birthdays and any event.
Trips him down the stairs - Daemon is actually going up the stairs and catches his brother. Due to this, Viserys and Daemon start going to the gym together as they think it happened because of Viserys’ health. The brothers are now even closer than before.
Alicent gets sick of it, so after a night out with her friends, she comes back drunk and pulls out her gun to shoot Viserys. She misses and hits an assassin that was hired to kill Viserys. Viserys is extremely grateful to his wife.
The way that so many people make Alicent, Criston and even Aegon’s character centre around Rhaenyra so much is so annoying. Like yeah they do have connections to her but acting like their only personality trait is her is not true.
Honestly I’d say that even Baela, Rhaena and Rhaenys also suffer from this.
It’s never „these characters are connected to Rhaenyra”, it’s always „these characters live and breathe Rhaenyra.”
Let these characters be their own characters. It’s fine to talk about their relation to Rhaenyra, but to act as if they don’t have a life of their own is ridiculous.
Rhysand is the type of person to show up to his gf’s ex’s house at least one a week to keep reminding him that he’s so much better than him and the ex is like „I have a restraining order against you and how did you get into my house again?”
*Criston teaching Aemond how to drive*
Aemond: No I can’t do that, that would be giving the enemy information about my next move
Criston: Aemond it’s a turn signal, it’s supposed to give information about your next move
Jaehaera: *painting Aemond’s nails*
Aemond: I just don’t know what they want from me! My plans are perfect- Hey no- You’re going outside my nails- Anyway, I think they’re just jealous. Mummy always said that I’m perfect just the way I am
Jaehaera: It’s them, not you
Aemond: Of course it’s them! I’m so happy to finally be validated in my feelings. . . Don’t forget the glitter
